Certainly depends. Most falconry eagles actually have talons sharper than wild ones because of their comparatively scarce usage, and the special mats falconers use for their birds' perches to prevent bumblefoot - so it's very easy for eagles to hurt someone not wearing protection even if they don't mean it.

Mr. Paxton should be honored. Getting an eagle trained to fly and return is extremely hard work. This one like you. That says alot to me. I know animals, but am not familiar with baseball. Be proud. That eagle ignored the training and flew to you, twice. It likes you. And that is amazing as they don't like just anybody. I would know, as I was once a zoo keeper.

@Mike. Since the eagle is obviously a bird that cannot be released back to the wild for whatever reason, I'm quite sure his talons are manicured so they DON'T pierce or otherwise injure people. That eagle lives his life teaching people about birds of prey and does not need his talons for tearing his meals to shreds. He has that done for him by his keepers. Paxton was never in any danger.
@huntsman93162 жыл бұрын
@@Erin-vu1tt I have been to many raptor centers that have birds who can not be released into the wild and I have seen that they do not cut their bird's talons. The handlers wear protection. if you look at the handlers in the video, you can see that they have a sort of padding on their arm to protect themselves from the talons. So yes, that guy was in danger of getting his back scratched to hell because of how large that bird's talons are. and bird talons are no joke: they huge, sharp, and the grabbing force is strong enough to break your finger
@motivated72032 жыл бұрын
It's a trained eagle owned by somsone, most likely its talons are clipped or capped, even if it did land on Paxton it wouldn't have hurt him
