I have a friend who has been making herbal tinctures in Kent for many years and I used to help her cut the herbs in the garden and press them to make the tinctures so I found this video very interesting. She is in her 80s now and is still making tinctures and looks very well. It was the most enjoyable job I've ever done.

Fascinating film. Having worked in mental health for many years I am fascinated by what Professor Patrick Holford and Food For The Brain promote. The National HEALTH Service needs to focus more on promoting health, rather than just treating illness. This would be cheaper and prevent much suffering and disability, wether it be physical or mental 👍

Sounds very sensible to me.

I found this very informative, and that Kym presented as very holistic in her approach, and finds out about the whole person. My cautionary tale here - is that people should have a discussion with their GP/health care professional before taking herbal preparations, as these may interact with their prescribed medications by altering absorption, metabolism and excretion. In my lengthy MH career, I have seen many people who have presented with seemingly MH issues when in reality they were experiencing side-effects from the interaction of herbal preparations and prescribed medications.
@RichardVobes5 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, very good point. I am sure Kym would check to see what medications people are on - her husband is a doctor.
@kymherbs5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely we do check this, as properly trained medical western herbalists we will not dispense anything that is contraindicated with a patients's prescribed meds. Of course what people decide to self-medicate with after delving into Dr Google is a whole other ball game!

Fascinating video. One of the things I like about your videos Richard, is the very good audio. So many KZbinrs rely on their camera microphones. Which make them sound as though they are in their bathroom.

Very interesting. I always appreciate when Dr.'s & the medical world offer natural options over all the drug use. Not many do. I miss my Fibromyalgia specialist that used to work in my Pain Specialist office. She always tried to go this route as much as possible & it did help! Btw...did you speak to Kym on what she could recommend for you to get over your cold?

@@RichardVobes Echinacea extract for the immune system & Elderberry syrup for the cough. Elderberry is brilliant. Made a hot drink with Elderberries once & a friend turned up with her little son hacking away, so I gave him some. I told him it was magic potion for getting rid of coughs & the cough was gone within an hour. I warned him it would taste odd but then you kind of expect magic potions to taste a bit funny.

Richard did she have anything to smoke and did you see a cauldron and a pointy hat anywhere. I got my ESSE and they sent me a EWP and I ordered a EWB so it did not come with my boiler or the extended wood box so now I have to work with the dealer to get what I paid for but she's a beauty.
