The Ballad of Tess Catalano: University of Iowa Activist and Musician

This is a lovely tribute to Tess. I was surprised to learn in a recent program by the LGBTQ+ UI Alumni group that she had passed in the late '90s, which precipitated me to Google her after learning her papers are in the Iowa Women's Archives. I had the pleasure of knowing Tess briefly my senior year in college and appeared with her at the '95 Iowa Women's Music Festival and on the Prairie Voices compilation album. Thanks so much for putting this out there for everyone to see. She was such an important voice and influence in the queer community in Iowa City. ~Melissa Billings
