The Ballarat Tram Museum - What's It Like?

I’ve been here many times, the last time i went was a few months ago. They sell MotivePower magazines in the gift shop, and i got myself hands on the first special edition - Farewell to the 1990’s! All magazines the sell are 50¢.

I think you might enjoy making a video about the Alamein line, and how it used to form part of the long gone outer loop. East Camberwell had a lower level station below the current one which served that loop. A really interesting quirk of the Alamein line is that sometimes trains will depart Camberwell on the wrong track (the up line) when they begin their journey then switch over to the correct line a short distance in. This allows them to leave Camberwell on a particular platform and avoid the flyover. The old electrification poles beyond Alamein station are also interesting. Lots of content there for a video!

Funfact: around the city, some powerpoles still have faint red and white painting which indicated tram stops

You can actually rent the trams for filming. Someone in my year rented it for our final year film.

Now that we're trying to increase access to public transport in Victoria, I wonder if they'll ever resurrect trams in Ballarat.
