I’ll never forget hearing those shots and then seeing his Honda wrecked into the curb next to the liquor store. From my recollection it happened around 630pm on a summer day-broad daylight. And then I learned who he was. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake said she was hurt because her daughter was a huge fan. I love all music and couldnt look him up fast enough. And that’s when I found Bird Flu - “we selling scramble coke and smack keep them junkies coming back”. A part of me died that day and my hope for Black Americans, my fellow Americans, was shakin to its foundation. God damn if it doesn’t burn me up. It honestly breaks my heart.
