One if my all time favorite songs! And this version with the Staple Family is so amazing. Thank you for your reaction!

This was a film clip from the Last Waltz, which documented the end of the Band's time together. That had backed up Bob Dylan. This is their song but the Staples also recorded, so for their farewell film, the Staples joined them.

“The Band was a Canadian band, with one American, Levon Helm ( drummer ). They had several hits. This video was taken from “The Last Waltz” a movie by Martin Scorsese , The movie documented the last performance by The Band. Many famous artists performed, The Staples were a family gospel group invited to sing this song with the guys. R.I.P. Levon Helm, Rick Danko and Richard Manuel.

Nice job guys! Funny, every review of this clip cuts of the punch line- at the end of that drunken little violin jam Robbie says “Well, it ain’t like it used to be” 🤣 Then it goes right into the most incredibly perfect version of The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down

This is from The Last Waltz with The Band and many artists of the day. Much watch!

On some versions you can hear what Mavis Staples says right at the end - "Beautiful". She wasn't wrong.

I was going to suggest this. The Band, who played for Bob Dylan, and the Staples a gospel group. Good song.

In the beginning they speak about not finding an inn in Nazareth (Jesus home they couldn’t find any room at the inn at his birth), they speak on Luke and the Judgement Day, and the whole give your burden to me is from The Words of Jesus Christ in this Bible Verse: (From Matthew 11:28) 28Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.…

I've been listening to this song for years and years. I've always picked up on the biblical references but there are parts of it that I've always had difficulty referencing in the bible. Some day I'm going to have to sit down with the lyrics and do a proper interpretation.

@@keithg6702 England did everything they could didn't they? The media outlets all had their stories prepped about how the brave "3 Lions" saved England and it's evil racist people. It was all lined up perfectly for them to be the heroes of the brave new world, but unfortunately they all missed their shot. 🤷🏻♂️
