Thank you no matter what quality. I watched as a 14 year old all the people walking to the concert due to gridlock and heard it playing from the house 25 miles away!

We were there, in 1973, Julie, Kelly, Donald, Jay, and me, Edward (from the Netherlands), we hitchhiked up there to upper State New-York from Connecticut, arrived on thursday and we had our spot right front stage. The Band gave an extremely memorable performance, woke up the next morning under a bright blue sky with a huge smile on my face, and my American friends said: -look Edward, he thinks the whole world is very funny-, and I remembered that I replied to them: -No!! I just heard The Band yesterday, and one can only respond to this smiling-. What a concert.what musicians!, they were so great that day in July. Live up to this memory unto this day.

But the music? WOW...The Band and the Dead played on Friday night before the Saturday show...Bobby kept saying "Remember folks, this is only a sound check..." Awesome music! The Dead, The Band and then the Allman Brothers.... It didn't rain during the day but as soon as the sun went down it poured as I remember it..But that was a while ago...

Actually, the official release by Capitol were outtakes from the "Rock of Ages" New Year's Eve concert, so only snippets of the Watkins Glen show were actually in the official release. We wuz ripped off, folks. So, the official release was not even the concert that was advertised (with the exception of Garth's piece and that Jam piece). F Capitol! Listen to the "Second" side of the rereleased Rock of Ages, then the Watkins Glen "official release", and you'll see (or hear).

Yes, the sound quality was better but the release by capitol was not the actual concert.

I have this entire set on a bootleg CD. Got from a friend. Not sure how he came across it.

Why does the quality sound SO bad? Is this a bootleg or an official release?
@dylanpresley12 жыл бұрын
Holy Moley! You never know what's out there. Thanks! I also have a few decent audience recordings with 8mm video edited to it posted, from Chicago shows. Check out dylanpresley if you are a fan of The Band.

Sorry to disagree, but the official release by Capitol was far-superior quality than this scratchy, poorly recorded garbage.

But the Capitol release is not really Watkins Glen…I’ve heard better bootlegs of the real thing.
