The book resting on her chest in the boat is by Tennyson, who wrote the poem, "The Lady of Shalott" about a maiden cursed to live in a tower on an island and weave, and if she dares look out the window of her tower to the world below, her curse will kill her. So, of course, she hears the parade of returning knights to Camelot, and curiosity gets the best of her. She looks out the window and instantly falls in love with Lancelot. Knowing that she is going to die anyway, she decides to leave her tower, get in a small boat, and drift away to die, though the boat drifts to the knights, and Lancelot gazes on her dead body and prays for her, saying she had a lovely face. Like most of Tennyson, it is Gothic and beautiful and tragic. In fact, Loreena McKennitt sings a version of the poem set to music that you should REALLY listen to. Loreena McKennitt has such a haunting voice, and she produces and sells all of her own music out of her home instead of using a label company. The song is the full poem, so it is long at 11 minutes, but you'd definitely not regret it!

@@Amberhx1 I am willing to bet that they based the actual video even more on a scene from the 1985 Anne of Green Gables miniseries starring Megan Follows. In it, Anne Shirley's favorite poem is "The Lady of Shalott" by Lord Tennyson. Anne and her friends, including her "blossom friend," Diana Berry, decided to recreate the "tragically romantic" death scene of the Lady of Shalott by having Anne lie in a boat with flowers upon her chest to appear as though she died. Then, as Anne and the boat started drifting away, Anne recites the poem from memory. However, she suddenly jumps up in surprise after a few stanzas because the boat is taking on water and sinking, and she desperately tries scooping the water out, but to no avail. So, when the other girls head downstream to wait for the boat with "dead Anne" to arrive, they find the sinking boat empty and start screaming, thinking she's drowned for real. LOL

This is the 1st song I heard after I got the call that my only niece died in a car accident 2 days before her 19th birthday, 3 months before she graduated high school with honors. After her funeral it rained its butt off. Then the most beautiful double rainbow appeared. This song brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it.

the funny thing is i think of the opposite thing, which was my great grandmother who died at 99. I remember a peaceful dusting of snow at her funeral and knowing she was at Peace. All Glory to God Jesus Christ our Savior.
