This is a good and precise summary of the current state of the mod. The ganking factor is a huge issue, as it will force you to either join one of the few mega clans with large alliances or stay clanless. Definitely not what you would want for an MMO, but it's how it is currently. If you can bear staying clanless, it's still fun to some degree.

Isn’t that how you’d want it to work? Not a series of disparate clans all fighting meaninglessly but massive alliances formed because having more people makes you stronger, it makes it feel more historical and less MMO like. MMOs feel soulless to me.

@@epistemologyphilosophy7791 TL;DR: No, this is definitely not what you'd want for a desirable MMO experience. I'd be careful to define what is meaningless and what is not in a mod that stems from such a large variety of options in the original version of the game, let alone the differing opinion on this topic of a very notable part of the community not interested in being ganked all the time for gankers' bragging rights. If you didn't play the mod already, I highly encourage you to do so and start a new clan of your own from scratch. You'll find it's not only hard to recruit and keep active and productive players in your clan, the ingame grind surrounding that is horrendous. Having a max lvl clan takes off a whopping 30% of the grind, along with many other heavy benefits like movement speed bonus on the map and army size bonus. Combine that with maxed out characters chasing you down systematically and you even losing parts of your gear your character wears to their ganks with a chance of being imprisoned for 1 hour afterwards... saying this makes many (new and old alike) players quit is an understatement. Having a clan is basically the best way to progress with many quality of life improvements (and having your own banner, friends to play with and a clan hall to decorate and store loot is pretty cool), but the way the unfinished war system is designed currently leaves you little options as to how to play and progress at a tolerable pace. It may work out for you if you have no IRL obligations and you are lucky, but for the majority of newcomers and less progressed players, this issue is a very strong one.

@@epistemologyphilosophy7791 Oh, one more thought: by solving this issue i tried to describe in long detail this mod would very likely keep many new players that currently are deterred by this (in my pov) super grindy, unrewarding and hostile gaming experience. This may lead to a significant rise in server populations, which in return naturally leads to more player interactions, both friendly and hostile. I guess we both want the same, I just think there's a long way to go to actually achieve it. Currently, there's like 7-8 bigger (and still active) clans on NA and EU servers each, with 2-3 of each targeting solo targets and newcomers on a daily basis. Not what you'd want for a mod with such a tremendous grind imo.

letting people host private servers would be great. allowing for people who want to rp to do so with like minded people. also the ability use some overhaul mods to play in lotr, warhammer or historical period. roleplaying as dwarves in a fantasy game or as spartans in an ancient era map could be lots of fun.

I'll tell you my experience: It's a great idea, magnificent execution, I got some fun fighting together with friends in battles, etc... BUUUT, as someone commented over there, if you did not start playing when it was released, you are then enclosed to fight against 2Billion same stone thrower bandit group for over 200h to just get 50 troups and then start a clan with your friends to achieve a few more gaps and then get caught by a german clan and get to the other side of the map, to realized you'll have to fight again another 2Billion stone thrower bandits. There are few more hideouts and battles that can be done after that. But at the end feels repetitive, and you'll have no more choices but to join a giant clan. Hope in a future they open more new servers to offer opportunities to those who started playing late, because as I said the idea and execution feels very great, but the choices feel very reduced and the map is already reparted... Anyway I encourage people to try the experience as the modders did a huge and amazing job changing most of the mechanics to fit a multiplayer game that in some manner works...

Or another method is a clan war events, when the event activates the biggest clans will be able to fight each other whenever they wish and smaller clans will be left out unable to engage UNLESS they go to the (let's call him the clan master npc) who will be in front of all town gates, clan leaders can then opt in if they are the smaller clans and wish to fight and big clans can opt out if not enough players are on at the time or just don't wish to participate today. There will be rewards based on the amount of victories each clan has and it will last for a couple of hours or whatever the devs decide

that's the thing though. There is no such thing as a "small mod" for a coop singleplayer campain. Because the foundations of the game are not at all created with that intent. That requires huge amount of programing and infrastructure rethinking. Which is kinda what they are doing with this mod, even if it's not quite what you would (you and I) want.

The problem with mmo's like this and mmo's in general is you can't really go large like you say without a serious plan in regards of its monetization to have sense long term. And as now it's more of a passion project than an business, even though i suppose they do make a pretty penny from patreon alone to be able to keep the servers and for several global zones too and maintain interest for further development. Like the team is very small and according to patreon graphs their revenue would go about from 600$ to 5k$. So quite a big range and according to where they may be from could be just a side hussle and not a main job, which explains the slow development. Then again there are some kind of red flags that could explain it not quite as a passion project but more of a job, in the sense of working for some government as a type of "black ops" element part out of a bigger approach on spreading "sensors, tentacles and influence". I mean, finding stuff about the devs is like they don't want you to know them, making it quite sketchy and difficult in regards of supporting them financially, potential from patron like i said seems insufficient yet the site and servers and whatnot seems somewhat professional, high skills and all that.

Well if you are poor and can't afford to try this game, you can try downloading Steel and Flesh since they're also similar but low quality and you can play it on mobile phones with 2 gb ram.

Long story short (by personal experience) " After a dedicated 2 days play you ll need access of resources from open PvP areas South or North - which the aforementioned areas are HEAVILY guarded by clan alliances so they keep control over economy and special units availability aka raw power (cause "real economy" is not chopping trees for breadcrumbs) . Play for 2 days and uninstall or play and join an "alliance" that in most cases won't fit your "roleplay background and purpose" in M&B .Thank me later

5:25 It doesn't HAVE to always be at 1x speed though, not if it's done right. Just look at Stellaris Multiplayer. Time warp can be used there in multiplayer. It would be very easy to have a time warp in a "co-op" bannerlord, meaning only 2-4 players or so. The problem stems from there being a lot of players, effectively an MMO.

no smithing. it's got it's totally own system of economics, which imo is mostly really bad. No normal markets or gold gain. Very grindy, and pay to win.

What you don't tell in your videos is the huge controversy in game. I had an entirely normal experience with the mod till I decided to join one of the big Clans in game that being the Vlandians and instantly was bombarded with all this hatred for one another. Between the Resistance, the Vlandians, etc. I've taken a break from it as its just too much for me. If I come back I think Ill start my own clan. I have been warned by other clans if I leave the Vlandians they would hunt me down and take me out.

If they can I believe the best method right now if they don't want to go too in depth with adding anti gank measures, is add an opt in feature for pvp. If on you can fight anywhere, if off no one can engage you unless you walk into a pvp zone, obviously have a minor cool down so you can't just surprise butt fuck someone who is opted in

I dont think ganking itself is a problem in itself, but rather the issue of forming clans or coming together. Etc. this is as medieval as it gets, lords, etc. need to become a thing and people need to accept that. But there needs to be a system where minor "random" factions can come into existence. otherwise you need a system where "PVP" becomes enabled by certain actions of certain parties rather than being set battlefields etc.
