So i do a lot of video editing... and honestly if you’re heavily editing, MacBook Pro isn’t a great option. It’s a good option for periodic editing or frequent light editing. I have a MacBook Pro as well as an iMac and the beast (iMac) is soooo much better for heavy editing. Bonus-it’s cheaper than the pro!

The laptop issue: don't use one for video editing. Laptops aren't great for high powered stuff like video editing or gaming. They can have "same" specs but they don't have the cooling, space and the hardware is laptop size. Definitely suggest getting a desktop! ☺️

I agree. Getting a desktop is a better option for handling intensive video editing and rendering. I’m an architectural designer, and I work between my laptop and desktop. I can do simple drafting and graphic designs on my laptop, but it still runs hot. I use my desktop to handle renderings and large graphic files.

I love - LOVE - that gloss! I got the shade Opal at CVS (apparently there are shade exclusive to them). Smells and tastes like coconut cream pie. Sounds like that Best Buy has some bad inventory. The fan is not working to cool down the battery in your new computer, which could slow your processor down. Also, that can be a fire hazard, so be careful!

First of all, your editing is really popping, I’m loving it. And also, THAT DRYER STORY WAS TRAUMATIC. I genuinely wish you had a camera. Omg. Poor meeestur neeek. ALSO LAPTOP ISSUES. My friend does heavy photo editing and her MacBook Pro had an issue with her battery SWELLING. Maybe it’s a defective battery bc hers gets hot and swollen (not that way ahem) and she needed to get it fixed. My other photo editor friend buys a cooling pad. I agree with others that if you’re doing video editing, go with the iMac.

I feel the same. I have a few cuties that come to my porch every night and eat the outdoor cat food (not my cats, but I feed them because I can't stand to see them hungry); there are 3 opossums (1 mama and 2 babies), 5 raccoons (1 mama and 4 babies), a baby skunk (francois), and we've got a woodchuck family that lives under our shed, we've seen red fox, black bears, cayotes, wild turkey, deer, bunnies, TONS of chipmunks, and other small creatures. I absolutely love all the animals (tbh, more than ppl often times) and would have cried if that had happened to me, Poor Opossum (and poor Jaime and Nick). Anyway, that was WAY too long of a comment... Sorry 😬

Ok girl. Apple household here. Advice from my husband: return the MBP and get you a 27" iMac with retina 5K display for $3149. Your MBP is overheating and then downclocking the CPU resulting in slow performance. They aren't designed for the sustained workload. Also, is it hot in your house? Are you using in on a bed/pillow/lap/blanket? It needs to be on a hard surface regardless. My husband says "stop using a blow dryer when you need a heat gun." I bet Nick can appreciate that. An iMac will run that i9 at 5ghz ALL DAY plus having a huge screen is awesome for Final Cut Pro. Keep your MacBook Air in addition to the iMac.

I haven't tried the iMac yet, but I've been seeing this same advice everywhere. I'm a photographer and I do a lot of graphics creating and editing as well. I had a MacBook Pro from 2010 that worked beautifully until very recently. All the reviews that I've read, though, have pointed me away from getting another MacBook and toward an iMac instead. I'm not sure what's happened with Apple in the last 10 years and why the newer MacBooks don't perform at the same capacity as my 10 year old one does, but the overheating and the slow performance seems to be a common experience, and the explanation here makes sense.

Sarah Atkinson My husband waited forever to replace his 2013 MBP because none of them could meet his needs until recently. He refused to buy the one with the faulty keyboard and touch bar. He compiles software on it which makes it work pretty hard. The difference he says between what he does and someone who edits video is that he's not in a hurry. When he was still working for a company, he insisted they get him an iMac instead of MBPs for these reasons. We each have both at home, but I don't use mine for anything major. :) Anyway, I don't think MBPs are bad.

I have a funny story for you about myself! I couldn't ever pronounce Crayon like "Cray-On" Instead, my family allowed me to mispronounce it because they thought "crown" was way more cute... We're talking at least a decade before I learned to properly pronounce Crayon and I still want to call them crowns. K maybe that wasn't hilarious but I lived it lol!
