"The cello of the guitar world." Best advert slogan you could have found. Next to "nothing sounds happy", "everything sounds important". :-D Definitely need one.

I love that. "Everything sounds important ". Your excitement to play it is infectious. I've always been curious about baritone guitar. Thank you for showcasing it. Beautiful sound. I appreciate the lessons I an slowly improving and thanks to you I have been able to overcome some plateaus to keep learning instead of tossing the guitar in a corner. Cool strap. Congrats.

This was so useful. I also brought up the Bach tabs and watching you work through an unfamiliar piece was so helpful. I gave me so much confidence that I am not as bad as I thought I was. Thank you.

If you have this tuned in standard baritone (B-B) wouldn't the chord you referred to as D actually be A?

The beautiful, underappreciated, under-recognized baritone. I just love it. Someday . . . It's sort of an Eeyore guitar ~ sad, thoughtful, important, deep.

Better intonation aswell.. right? Cos of the longer scale. I wanna hear it in an open tuning with chord shapes higher up the neck + open strings ringing out. Bet that would sound lovely

Right now I just have a regular guitar, but I sure would like to someday own the other ranges, including baritone. Wonder how you feel about the alto and soprano guitars. The alto is tuned an octave higher than the baritone, and the soprano is tuned an octave higher than the standard. The soprano is really small and sounds very mandolin-like to my ears.

@Anonymous.android3 жыл бұрын
The Alvarez ABT60 is supposed to be great. Don’t know if you’d class it as cheap but it’s £350 whatever that translates to in your currency. With pickups it’s £399 which is still half the price of this Faith baritone!

The idea is to cover the range of the cello, it's really meant for duets and trios (I think Bach would've loved it) etc, because just like on bass harmonies are ok but chords get muddy. I'd be a fan of a 4 or even 5 string baritone, but 6 is asking for muddy chords. And when he plays the cello suite it's sounds good because it's mostly single note. I think this is awesome...for a very limited subset of music

Waste of money if you ask me. No different from a normal 6 string. Just put heavy strings on one, tune it down and adjust the truss rod. Use a capo to put it back in concert. The 8 string baritone could be interesting but then again you can just take 4 strings off a 12 string.
@mightyseraz4 жыл бұрын
It's different. I'd imagine the longer scale length is going to give it brightness to balance the warmth of the thicker strings. It's almost muddy it's so warm, as the warmth-hater comments could attest to, but I bet in person it's amazing as the tones don't get as flattened out in person.
