Sad day in a free country that you need a permit which is short for permission to build a building on your own piece of land, I don’t think our founding fathers would think that was a very free country. Love the show though. Happy trails Luke

In my county, you cant have a storage building until you build a house ! Thats another reason why I moved to the Carribean. Not the main reason. Here if you don’t build it right. The hurricane will inspect your house for free .

Timmyjimmy Pingpong unfortunately you’re correct. And power corrupts.
@BacktotheBasics1015 жыл бұрын
Timmyjimmy Pingpong Could you explain how they protect your investment? I am a state legislator here in North Dakota and I am very curious why you would say something like that. You protect your investment by having an inspection done before you purchase a piece of property. That protects your investment, not government. To marry my daughter or to hunt on my land you need permission, to carry a gun, or build a building on your own private property, you do not need permission, maybe in Russia or China, but not in a free country.

I put one of the older styles up 15 yrs ago up where we get heavy snow fall and non stop freeze and thaw early and late in the winter. They were dirt cheap and as you pointed out a simple quick fix. I can honestly say it has held up well and I see yours has a few upgrades in design that take care of the one slight weakness mine has. After 15 yrs and who know how many times its had 16 inches of heavy wet snow laying on the roof panels they are slightly bowed at the seams , not bad enough to leak but deformed non the less.. I think I spent 2600 for a 18 x 32 that has kept my boat dry and will continue to for a few more yrs. Its called bang for the buck around here.

Brother, we have been watching y'alls channel from the beginning. In fact, this video you created on your steel barn / building was what made me decide to put up a steel building / carport to hold my tractors and mini excavator, as opposed to a wooden one. The wooden one may come later. I shot a video of it going up, and today I actually posted it to our new youtube channel. I threw your name in the title because you actually did inspire me to go this route. I hope that's not creepy, man. Thanks and keep representing NC with the great content.

a little tip for anyone who gets a carport like this one. At the top, the very peak inside. You have a triangle opening. I had to cover mine with some metal tape due to birds nesting in these. The little baby chicks will poop all over anything under these openings if birds are nesting in that area. not all carports or sheds have these braces. this gives the building great strength.

I have a similar structured carport at the house I recently bought and want to mount some shelves/racks in it. Are the fasteners used 1/4" self tapping screws? I want to make the support brackets out of wood because of size requirements. What size/caliber bolts should I use to attach the brackets to the vertical support tubing? Fine or coarse threads? Self-tapping screws or should I pre-drill and use standard machine bolts? Thanks!

Looks good Josh. I am thinking of building one of those in the next yet myself. Got to build the house first though. I have looked at Carolina Carports many times and one thing I have found out is that a lot of the mom and pop places selling the buildings are actually selling for Carolina Carports. Atleast in my area of SC it seems to be that way. Cheers friend.
@evanmeece6 жыл бұрын
Ive been looking at these also. I thought about having them erect the plain jane structure with metal roof then laying the block myself (brick mason for 10 years in my earlier life) for the walls. I would have to pour footer and have them build it on that so block would have support but it would be strong as all get out. I like the quickness these go up compared to framing everything out with wood then having to shingle roof, etc....finishes....
@hilltopmachineworks21316 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have heard the mixed reviews about Carolina Carports also. I think part of the problem is they take more orders then they can handle and in turn they cant meet the timelines they tell their customers. I have a small 12 acre farm, we bought last year. Need a place to store the Tractor, side-by-side, hay, feed, etc... I've been looking for a very cost effective option that will meet my needs. My only concern is that I'd like to have the option to add lean-to's later if more space is required. Also, do you have more information on site prep/clearing and gravel? What was the cost when you add in those factors? Thanks. Great Video.
@StoneyRidgeFarmer6 жыл бұрын
SO...you can add a lean to on this building..in fact we are doing that very thing soon. It cost the same as the building you purchase.....in other words this is a 36X24 I believe....cost around $4k....the lean too 12X36 on each side would be $4k plus $150 fee for removing the tin and replacing on the lean too...not bad
