This model 6 Barrett Adding Machine was made in 1913. Designed by Glenn J. Barrett, it was in production from 1910 till 1924, and was considered one of the most portable adding machines of its time.
Minor correction: This machine was actually made in Grand Rapids, because although the company moved to Philadelphia in 1912, the factory did not follow until 1919.

I don't know how you keep finding these rare machines, but I want you to know i appreciate these videos. Your channel is like a history museum. Certainly deserves more attention.

The next video will be another rare one, but after that I don't have anything particularly rare left.

I really like the addition of the historical biography, photos and prints. Really fills in the life of the machine and the people of the times.

That's another cute machine Jaap, a great little find. I love the way you can lock out the last two columns to use as an item counter, that's really neat. Always nice to see the rare ones, but the more common ones are equally interesting.

The mechanism for the item counter is remarkably simple. The switch just swings a rod in place that always triggers the carry mechanism to the fifth column.

@@jaapsch2 Simplicity is always the best, very little to go wrong with simplicity.

I really like non-listing adding machines. That crank handle takes the cake though.

It's great. Those springs cushion the end of the stroke, so it feels so smooth when you use it.
