This whole series has meant so much to me. The Barris Brothers, the Anderson Brothers, Darryl Starbird Bill Cushenberry,Gene Winfield, Big Daddy Roth, they shaped my childhood love of cars and Customs. And quite you, Chip, reinforced and reivented the art.

Thanks Chip.. Im just hopping it doesnt sit in a garage hidden for another 50+ years.. Car needs a good home or display somewhere that others can see it. Priceless! The Barris museum....

I completely agree, and if you read my post, you'll see that I don't think these clowns fit the bill to preserve this iconic art.

I 'm pretty sure if that was just sitting around in my parents garage , and in my wild youth -I would have figured out a way to drive it . What good sons .! Chip perfectly gleaned the soul back out of that rod - that light ,but serious , finessing saved a huge amount of cash and having it legit original makes it that beautiful example of custom Oldsmobile iron .
@ericsmith4813Ай бұрын
I would say it is getting sold to keep it fair between the sons ....unfortunately with estates that how it goes ....or they son's realize they can't care for it and maintain it like it needs to be ....the worst thing is to let it sit , it needs to be with someone who will drive it and maintain it

But who likes old cars and does that. There is no excuse for that car to have just sat there all those years.

Wow. After all the episodes, this is the 1st time I wasn't questioning Harris choices. Chip, you had such a close up on all the details that I couldn't see the flow until now. Absolute rolling art.

777 likes when I got here, 778 shortly after arrival!!!. Chip Foose is a NATIONAL TREASURE, and should be regarded as such. Thanks to the descendants, and to Chip for this peek at a true classic. Too bad George Barris isn't around to see this, he would be very excited (can't help but think of Liberace quote, "I wish my brother George were here"). I just got back from a 2 hour ride on (mostly) 2 lane backroads stretching the legs on my 77 Corvette I've had for 30 years, finally got to paint it myself last year, now I'm enjoying the fall colors. Turned on the puter and now enjoying this car and it's story!
@Vette1967Ай бұрын
I agree with you, Chip Foose is a national treasure. I also like you comment about your 77 Corvette. I own an Orange 1977 Corvette that I purchased in 1988 for my youngest son to drive while in high school and college. After graduating college he bought a new Honda and parked the 77 in my garage. In July he came by and gave me his credit card and told me to buy whatever I needed to get it on the road again. I'm 75 years old now and not as nimble as I once was, but I'm working on it about 20 hours a week now. It should be ready to go in another 6 months.

There are plenty of people who are into detail. Mr Foose has to be one of the Very few around into Cars that can discern the correct details to make something the best it can be. Whilst not being the greatest most extreme Barris creation it describes the period it was made and the limitations of those who got it made along with it still being useable perfectly. The over the top customs get all the attention but this one reflects a more down to earth achievable Car in its day. It is what all Classic Hot Rods try to achieve but not actually being one IMHO. A great job recommissioning.
