Great to see this on-line and to see my father, Victor Franklin as Jenik. Dad passed away October 1st, 2019.

I’m impressed by the number of live animals on-stage. I can’t hear “Dance of the Comedians” without the Roadrunner & Coyote running in my head.

This is not an Elizabethan Theatre Trust Opera Company (Opera Australia) production but an ABC TV production. The ABC used to do about three or four a year. The singers were often from the Elizabethan Theatre Trust Opera Company but the casts included other fine singers from various states. The Vasek, Ray MacDonald, had a milk run in Sydney with baritone Neil Easton. NZ baritone John Young ran the Elizabethan Theate Trust Opera in 1963.

To víte, tehdy v divadlech nebyly titulky, takže vznikaly překlady libret. Máte to i opačně.

"Indian" actually refers to a Fijian, part of the East Indies as far as Europeans were concerned. Australian Aborigines were referred to as "Indians" up until the 1880s. So instead of a feather headdress he should be black with curly hair and bone decorations. Who would attempt it?
@sapito-cernobilahravost7461 Жыл бұрын

Was it so too hard to learn Czech and therefore you need to sing it in English? 😜 Just kidding. I know that Czech is super hard. So well done even though it was not written in English and English can't really fulfill the richness of the Czech language, but that's like with any other translation from a foreign language - you cannot always translate everything.

@MrScott82 жыл бұрын
předpokládám, že si stejně stěžujete když se překládají libreta cizích děl do češtiny.
