As a muslim, I think Barzakh has crossed the bounds, not just with lgbtq but our faith in life after death, too. With regards to lgbtq theme i think up until the young boy having feelings and guilt was justified, it showed that parental trauma could harm you so much. They should have shown more of how the trauma affected him... but adding another gay character (Italian guy) and glorifying it was too much. It was awful. Trauma does not justify that at allllll. I completely agree that Barzakh is not for Pakistani/Muslim audience. What is wrong is wrong and can’t be normalized. I’m upset that Fawad and Sanam did this show. Let’s face it. There’s so much exposure now and everyone can find and watch anything they want. We can at least explain to our kids that Bollywood and Hollywood are not us, and not our culture and society. I have left Barzakh already. I'm not interested in this drama at all . Let's think like in some Turkish , Korean dramas.... Just a few week ago, there was major controversy over the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics in Paris, where the last supper was recreated with members of the LGBTQ+ community and guess what, a lot of goras were upset that their religion was insulted this way, so much so that the creators had to apologize. Unfortunately, the liberals of Pakistan are naive and blindly follow this movement. Showing all the creepy thing isn't art, I thought It would be something great but its all about black magic, satinism, sacrifices (murders), homosexuality and what not... The book signifies alchemy and it is shown as holy book of their world. They shouldn't have used religious references as barzakh itself is a religious concept. It’s completely wrong to say that concept of Barzakh in the show is an Islamic concept. They have not shown Muslims, they never mention Khuda, Allah swt or even something general like ‘Uper wala’ to denote they believe in a monotheistic religion. They are talking about divinity of ‘Kudrat’ or the universe which are pagan concepts. This show is based on pagan mythology. You need to understand that Allah swt sent down the Message numerous times but it was corrupted each time until he sent down the final message in the form of Quran. All existing religions and mythologies have parts that are similar to Islam because they are distorted versions of the same message. Barzakh or purgatory exists in many different beliefs, not just Islam.

Good discussion on " Barzakh" Im really ashamed at the way in which certain u tubers especially ladies thought it was a very well crafted art movie " not meant for Pakistani audiences " meaning they would not be able to comprehend such a superior level of intellectualism. This is pure crap. The best filmmakers in the world such as Akira Kurosawa ,)Tarkovsky, and the Iranian Asghar Farhadi make films on their own culture and norms without succumbing to western way of making films They did not make movies for an international audience.....their movies were based on their own culture and norms .This gained Farhdi two oscars. So in order to make a good film you dont have to put in content which is nudity and western symbolism to make it intellectual. In my opinion a writer who was unaware of the differnce between Barzakh and the Catholic belief of Purgatory is not a very well read person. Neither are the critics in " SomethingHaute " and " kiya drama hai") The symbolism of the play is ancient Egyptian and Shamanic, Witchery and insane superstition dominate the play which has nothing to do with the title of Barzakh. This much for its art and intellectualism. On top of that the gay theme and nudity make it a revolting and disgusting watch. Going to say something strong...I believe everyone associated with this serial should be boycotted....writer director, actors.When it comes to our Deen no compromises..what is in the Quran and Ahadith are not to be discussed. They are the final words of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad pbuh and anybody disagreeing with that needs to be shunned/ ostracised. Why the obscenity of the first scene.?' Why the gay characters and the kids talking about adult obscene stuff???? Why? The writer said he wanted freedom to write or make a serial the way he wanted to bcoz art cannot survive in a repressive environment. Let me say art is never really free from politics or even the socio political ambiance of the time. Im figuring out how the gay couple is relevant to this serial which is about souls and even borders on the horror. Why the obscenity of the opening scene? I find that in sheer contrast to the everlasting and soulful relationship on which the theme is based.The requirements of the time are LGBT and nudity. I believe that is where the writer was stripped off his " freedom" Not having a gay relationship in the serial would have rendered him non intellectual and biased against love between the same genders. Similarly the nudity of the first scene was essential. However i fail to understood why the writer defined Barzakh as purgatory. It is not purgatory as this Catholic belief is about spirits being punished as an expiation of their sins so they could enter paradise whilst Barzakh is a state in which souls will live after the death of their physical body until the day of judgment. The use of the tree of life and the Ouroborous symbols were ordinary and overdone.The story written in the " magical realism" genre would have been more subtle without them.

Iman is right and I am so happy at least someone gave their unfiltered opinion. Barzakh is a complete dumpster fire. Everything about this drama is just plain WRONG. Its like they deliberately picked all the biggest sins and wrongs and decided to make a project to glorify ALL of them. After the director's statements, I understand he's a deviant and calling him out is fruitless. Fawad Khan's priorities have come under question due to his focus on Bollywood and catering to Indian viewers, seemingly at the expense of his own country's audience. His comeback role is underwhelming, with nothing remarkable about the character - anyone could have played it. The actor we've loved so much for over a decade unfortunately doesn't love or respect us back. The writer and director of the show also appears to have no regard for Pakistani viewers, forcing unnecessary and exploitative storylines, such as the LGBTQ narrative, which felt like a deliberate attempt to provoke controversy rather than tell a meaningful story.
