@@sekaihunter9378 Indeed. Playing both for years has made me realize what's impactful about both of them. VGC is a much faster, aggressive, and *tactical* game. It doesn't waste your time, and relies on other strategic and team building choices. Being a 4v4 best of 3 means you can save some information, and being a Bo1 reduces that impact a little on Showdown, which leads to a slightly different meta on the ladder than at tournaments. Whereas VGC is more tactical with teammate position, Singles is more *strategic* in the same way that Chess is. Your goal is to obtain and maintain an advantage state, with momentum carrying you potentially through several key turns. This is why Singles ends up longer as a result - it's one opponent's best play in disadvantage to be patient and wait for an opening/mistake to strike, much like how CTC got a major advantage but left himself open in one play. They are both very fun formats but just have different reasons for preferring each one. Momentum in VGC gets stuffed hard due to important Protect and redirection plays, so you still need to be careful even when in advantage. That being said, due to a lack of damage output, stall is often weak in VGC due to the need to actually deal damage and push through. This is why slow offensive menaces in Trick Room is far more important in VGC - time is a more precious resource so the timer for a TR can be the whole game if the opponent is not careful, and slow but powerful attackers can actually deal damage so they aren't buckled like stall.

Because the margins for damage are so much lower because of hp being a dum stat, also some mons are so strong in lc, due too there stat total that, it takes alot of meta game understanding too make the right move (reason being, and i could be wrong so tell me if so) but as far as my understanding goes, bans are very few and far between with LC so, you always have to have an option for a coverage move because it will just oneshot otherwise, while in other formats ev spreads alow ypu to cover foe matche ups like that. Just my opinion but ya know.

That triple Protect was extremely lucky. I know it's only a 1/4 chance of it working, but when I need a second protect it always feel like it's 1/100 each one. Edit: After a couple replies, I checked up on it and it's actually 1/27 of it happening (it's 1 times 1/3 times 1/9). I remembered reading somewhere ages ago (probably a bad entry on a Spanish-language Pokémon wiki) that it was 50/50 chance of any subsequent use of a successful protect and just went with it. I was wrong about that. Still, though, it never feels like it has a chance of one in three of Protect/Detect/Whatever working on the second turn.
