Love watching these videos as I am an older new rider. It is so hard to watch 20 something that are perfect shape, etc. when I am not!

I love these videos of your mom’s lesson. They give s better sense for the lower level riders and for someone like me for teaching riders. Please do me videos with your mom and or any other lower level riders. These videos are the kind that help with my education.

Amelia, please don’t be offended, but, I think your mom is my new dressage idol ! She’s a heck of a lot closer to my vintage and she looks quite fine in this video. Her second canter was really improved over her first canter. We can always improve and move the needle...Really inspiring to watch.

It is so hard to keep your shoulders still (yup, I finally cantered- and it was as awesome as I imagined, probably even more so!) and I can tell I am going to have trouble keeping my hands still as well- I have only done it four times in one lesson, I have a long way to go, but the shoulders are going to be a challenge for sure! (I wish my mom and dad and grandma and grandpa could have been here to see me do it for the first time, they all always tried so hard to get me opportunities to ride, they knew how much it meant/means to me, they would be SO proud! Nobody else cares, haha, but I know they are all somewhere cheering me on!) Thanks for all the great videos, I wouldn't be where I am in my riding without them!

I'd pay a high price to have my mentor back. Its is so valuable in our horsemanship journey to have a great coach who sees the little things we do that get in the way of our horses. Having someone who is particular not critical and of course supportive and knowledgeable. Someone who knows to work from where the horse is at and from where the rider is at as well. If you have this person in your life who is your friend and mentor please don't take that for granted. Some day it may be gone. I thought it was hard to learn to ride in the beginning, with all the help I had. Now I have a lot more knowledge, but I think it is so much harder working on my horses and in reality working on myself, alone.

Reason it looks like we’re sitting quiet and not moving is because we’re following the rhythm of the horse! Get connected with him (the horse) and make that motion that he’s making and you’re gonna skip like a stone across the water! Great analogy of the smooth skipping! Thank you for this! Great tip from your husband 😄

I’m in my early 50’s and started riding lessons about 5 months ago for the first time ever. I haven’t begun to canter, so I’m trying to educate myself as much as I can before then. What does the instructor mean when he says “ keep the outside rein” as she’s circling in the canter? Does he mean to keep enough contact, or tighten it? Anyone who can offer guidance, thanks:)
