This is one of the most useful videos I've ever come across as a coach. As always great work!

Great podcast for sure. The way situation certainly makes my job tougher. Most of these kids,no matter how athletic they're,never have they're athletisim fully developed because of year-round play. I am a high school strength coach for Oakland high in Oakland, Ca. I have developed a few players of note. I know from experience that most of what Cory says is true. However you do need,in my opinion, specialized training to teach plyometrics, weight training, flexibility etc especially Olympic lifting. One of the other reasons for the catastrophic injuries we see in young players, besides the pounding, is because of player's being trained poorly in the weight room. Lots of folks get hurt in the weight room!A strength coach needs to grasp postural assessments, corrective exercise, recovery, program design etc before designing any programs. Most coaches haven't the slightest idea how to use my skills. Thanks for the podcast.

I would also add that athlete's do not always naturally figure out the most efficient way to move. That is not true at all. Do they sometimes make the right choice? Of course, but not all of the time. On playing tall. Basketball is played in multiple planes of motion. Therefore,an athlete MUST be able to play low and high. It's completely situational. The point is,the athlete must have the ability. Often,if a player has movement preference,it is related to a movement dysfunction. Gotta train off the ground!!!
