A lot of people complained about this new Batman for different reasons and compare it to the others. Some people said "It's too dark"and so forth. To each their own. I put it up in the level of "The Dark Knight"myself. Maybe just a little under TDK. "The Batman"was the best portrayal of Batman's abilities as a detective and I loved the darker storyline, but I will say the final battle with the Riddlers fanboys, while awesome, was nowhere near as epic as Batman saving the hostages and defeating the clowns, as well as keeping the cops from making any mistakes.

That opening monologue where Bruce talks about the signal and how criminals fear the unknown, was my favorite part of the entire movie. The cinematography, music, voice over, acting, and the overall atmosphere for Batman, was flawlessly done in that scene.
@youalreadyknow50032 жыл бұрын
His ending monologue was just as good
@ryanhalawani26372 жыл бұрын
Also, that whole scene and set up including Bruce's grifter disguise and even down to the dialogue were heavily inspired and even taken straight from Frank Miller's Batman: Year One. Him talking about "the element" is ripped straight from the comic. The whole scene of all the criminals and their genuine fear of seeing the bat signal combined with the foreboding music was *chef's kiss*

I like seeing a middle-aged Alfred, rather than an elderly one, for once. When I was reading Batman comics, Alfred was never super old, he was just...bald. haha The hair he had left was still black. I've never quite understood making him so old in every adaptation, even if he was in service to the Wayne family when Bruce was a child. Fifties is a perfectly fine age for Alfred to be.
@ryanhalawani26372 жыл бұрын
Good point. I also suspect that it was also them borrowing from the Batman: Earth One comics. In that one Alfred is still relatively old (late 50s to 60s with grey hair) and uses a cane. But, he was also this badass former SAS (British Special Forces) and master spy and fighter. In that version, much like is implied in this film, he actually taught Bruce how to fight and a lot of his martial arts skills.

As someone who reads the comics this is by far my favorite live action Batman. I love how similar to Batman Year One and Batman the Long Halloween (as well as others) this was. Truly felt like one of the comics come to life! His relationships with Jim, Alfred, anf Selena were spot on! I enjoy the look that Batman gives the kid, clearly seeing himself. You can really see that deep down Bruce is still that sad, lost kid who desperately misses his parents. Hopefully we'll see more of that in the sequel with Dick Grayson 🙏 Grayson is one of my all time fav characters and it saddens me the live action movies don't give him the love he deserves
@Simon_Sez2 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. I’ve never been into all the comics so I can’t make those same connections but my dad can and he said similar things when we went and saw this in theaters. He said he liked how Batman was doing more a detective-type work because apparently that was more true to the old comics? Idk, I can’t speak on how true that is for the comics but I definitely notice it and enjoyed it in the film

Some differences that makes this one stand out from the others: Other variants had him with an entire team of scientists who put his gadgets together for him. In here, he makes them himself. I seem to remember in others, Gordon simply slipped him case files, and he did the work on his own time. In here, he's actually working with the cops and going to crime scenes. Not to mention he demonstrates a knowledge of forensics. Also speaks directly to people who claim Batman sucks as a hero because Gotham is still crime ridden: how is he supposed to clean up Gotham when the entire system is corrupted?

It seems to me that the only obstacle is the timing of the tape. And so if, for example, Shang-Chi is different from the standard MCU films, then Reeves' Batman does not feel like a movie comic in general. Of course we got a bunch of dialogues , but because of the noir-horror atmosphere does not get bored.

This is the first batman movie in literally decades that I've wanted to watch more than once. It features the World's Greatest Detective doing detective work. Seeing this in theatre was quite an experience. The atmosphere was super heavy, but what I love about this movie especially is that it finally shows Batman putting his detective skills to use. How he quickly reaches a conclusion to most riddles in this movie is inspiring. Also, when I watched it again a few days ago with my parents, with the Polish dub (for comparison), I was amazed on how well it was done. Not only the translation was fantastic, but the voice acting was superb, too. Also ALSO, Michael Giacchino managed to make "Ave Maria" TERRIFYING! This is now definitely my favorite Batman movie, with Batman Returns getting toppled from #1 spot.

I was skeptical about Pattinson being Batman and after this film I think he was alright, definitely Matt Reeves did all the hard work establishing Batman (the intro is just *chef kiss*). I think Pattinson still has a path to walk and I can't wait for sequels. Colin Farrell stole the movie for me and Paul Dano always delivers as this type of characters. My least favorite was Zoe Kravitz, she was average and I'll be ok if she doesn't return till the third movie. Andy Serkis made me swallow my words since he was a good Alfred. My favorite thing about this movie is how sets everything for future projects but still develops Bruce/Batman on its own. 9/10
