The Batman (2022) is finally in theaters and I'm here to give you the honest review you've been searching for. Robert Pattinson plays the caped crusader along with Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. These might be the youngest versions of the characters yet but they have no problems falling into the roles. The Batman movie is clearly inspired by films like Se7en, with a very dark, dismal take on Gotham City. The mysterious Riddler brings out Batman's detective work and Oz (the Penguin) puts the Dark Knight through the ringer to get some answers to these riddles.
The Batman features an all-star cast, some amazing set pieces, beautiful and disturbing cinematography and some great direction from Matt Reeves. The 3 hour run time is long and can definitely overstay its welcome at times but the overall feel of the film sets this apart from previous Batman and comic book films in general. It's very likely this won't be the last time we step into this world as multiple new movies and shows are spinning off of The Batman. Hopefully they can continue this quality and clean up some of the rougher spots.

Loved it. The Falcone subplot was a little bit weak, but the rest was just perfect. Wayne Manor was even more gothic than Burton's. Gotham was what I imagine when I read the comics. The vengeance line wasn't just a cool line for the trailer, but more important in the whole theme of the movie. Batman here is a distant alien who watches the humans. The investigation was the main point, more important than the action. Just fantastic.

I have to agree Nolan's batman was more to my liking, however, this movie is well made, at times vengeance sounded more like darth vader or at least the score when he approach , was like watching vader enter a room jiji, im really impressed with colin take on the penguin, and pattison did an outstanding job, it was dark and edgy, there was not an ounce of playboy billionaire in his persona, it was more moody and depressed, more like a damage soul , imo, he did justice to the character and you even feel his pain. Thank God he didnt fup. Selina was ok, still prefer pfeiffer version of the cat better.

I'm one of those people that loved this film. But I'm not surprised that you were more mixed. I expect people to either really love it or like it well enough like you. Sure some would hate it, but I don't think that would be a really large group this time around. And I'm with you in that this is the best movie version of Gotham. Stylish like the Burton films, has a grounded nature like the Nolan films, but also has a real grit to it. I think the action was pretty good honestly, didn't even really notice the haze. Really dug the musical score, but to be honest you really have to go out of your way to make weird or bad choices to get me to be annoyed by certain musical stuff in films. Yea, obviously big Fincher influence, but I also got "Let Me In" vibes which I loved. And Robert is awesome, the way he moves especially at the beginning is almost like Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers. Loved the film and definitely want more.

There is nothing epic about Nolan trilogy. Simply overhyped and not realistic at all. Esp the one with joker... super overhyped. And part 3 where Bruce Wayne's persistent back injuries was just heal within mins? How Bruce Wayne get back to Gotham without any passport. How his money was stolen thru some stock market. And the whole police department just rely on batman to make the decision who to save... really senseless plot. The whole joker plot is so based on coincidence and plot armour... damn silly.

Batman really sucked at being a detective lol he wasn't able to save any of the people murdered. He didn't stop the bombs for the flooding. Who knows how many thousands of people died in that. Then he shattered the glass roof. Who knows how people died from that. He helped a few people to the roof, which they were doing anyway. He let Alfred get injured. His house gets bombed. He literally failed at everything. And he calls himself the greatest detective. Did he succeed at anything? Hahaha I enjoyed the movie. 30mins too long. The scores were awesome, however, sometimes the suspenseful scores really built you up to nothing much and then slowed you down. Making it quite tiring. I'm glad you noticed the voices not matching the characters. I giggled in my seat.

It's not a popcorn movie like the MCU trained us over the years to their formula. So this was such a great departure from that. It's not for kids. That's for damn sure. I wouldn't want to be in a screening with restless kids. The UK rating of 15 is the right one. And the fighting was still better to follow than in the Nolan Trilogy. Bat-Bruce's character arc is amazing, so is the contribution of the whole ensemble around him to his character development, so are the film's point of view shots, the realism of its trauma portrayal, the symbolic parallelism of certain scenes, the use of the score, the dark humored puns, the portrayal of a Gotham City that's almost a character in its own right, the physicality of the action scenes, the perfect pacing, the emotional impact of "The Batman" as a whole.

40 minutes longer to spend more time with the main characters and do an even deeper dive into their psyche wouldn't have hurt this movie at all. It was so entertaining that the three hours swiftly flew by in what seemed just a few moments.

Did I see a different movie to everyone else, or is everyone else just so easily pleased? I didn't enjoy this film at all. I thought it was incredibly boring and it just dragged on and on. I couldn't get invested in any of the characters, at times the music was irritating, actors mumbled their dialogue to the point that I couldn't understand what they were saying. At my screening, 5-6 people actually walked out of the theatre halfway through the film and I was tempted to follow them. The whole film felt like I was being subjected to a depressing punishment, and I couldn't wait for it to end.

Well, it obviously is a movie for people interested in the DC universe and its characters, particularly "the Batman". If that just isn't your thing it's no wonder you'll find this movie tiresome. It is a character study and a sort of coming-of-age story about Bruce Wayne battling his trauma and coming out of beating himself up in a self-centred guilt trip, first and foremost. The Riddler merely mirrors his darker, more nihilistic leanings, like an evil twin.

I really didn't like it. The musical score was nice, though, aside from the main Batman theme, which grated on my nerves after a while. Nice to have found another reviewer who agrees that the character who shows up near the end was eyeroll-inducing.

Just got back from the movie last night and agree with the take that It's a fine Batman movie with some good moments here and there, but it's not a masterpiece like most people claimed.

It was too quiet the characters were whispering the whole film to the point that it was hard to follow what they were saying. the score was annoying, and allot of the scenes went on too long witch ruined some of the tension, but it was still a decent Batman film.

I thought it was okay I didn't like the theme song being played as much as I did and that it was 3 hours. He's not my favorite Batman that's Michael Keaton and then Ben Affleck. I do want to see more from this series.

This movie is a disaster. It has one key, it's literally like watching a person tap one key on a piano over and over. Pattinson is sad and depressed for three hours, it requires no range of acting. Thank god for the Nolan movies, those strike a balance between story-telling, action and humor. I can say that my favorite scene was when Alfred woke from his coma and Batman is like your an asshole, because it made me laugh.

Hot take: I don’t love Se7en. It was a great directorial debut, but it wasn’t his magnum opus. The end reveal was so predictable and Brad’s acting at the end is cringeworthy (“what’s in the boOoOoOox, whats in the fcking box” “nooooo no no no” “you lie, your a fucking lier shutup” etc). It showed Fincher had potential, but it wasn’t his best by a mile.

Saw it again tonight. Yep, it's the best Batman film I've ever seen. The Psychologcal Noir Thriller fits the character like a glove. Leanest 3hrs I've watched in a cinema. Loved every rain-soaked frame.

@@sash9249 For me it is a tie between "Batman Returns" and "The Batman". The first one has the garish, grotesque, gothic, expressionistic, larger than life pulp comic mood and the most badass, sexiest Catwoman ever. The latter has the manic-depressive, dark as a winter midnight, all-out sociopathic hard-boiled crime noir graphic novel mood and the most traumatised Batman ever. Depends which mood I am in really, when I make my pick...

@@elfsieben1450 Totally depends on your mood and taste eh. Batman Returns is wacky, but it's definitely its own world. I think the Batman films that work best are the ones that make Gotham a true character.
