i think I get what u meant by love to hate, since Spiderman and F4 are close and ofc F4 n Doom are nemesis, then Spiderman might actually be conflicted between, as like nobody knows Peter Parker, then F4 might be his close friends who may help him through the dark times, hell Reed might be like his second mentor, but as F4 n Doom conflict ensues, Spiderman will be shocked at Doom who look just like Tony will try to convince him to a good guy which Doom which is basically depressed and angry Tony would slowly be grinding down although there will be backlash that will result in Peter's utter given up on him, not before maybe Peter "betraying" F4 for Doom or just following but seen as betryal more and more. The best thing about Dr Doom is that he is kind of an anti-villain as well, he would often 'defend' earth from other villains, just so he could steal their power or stop them from taking over his territory, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's the one that takes down Kang, then becomes the bigger villain by closing off the multiverse with his tech-magic.

Since the Marvel world has already introduced the multiverse concept, it's clear that this version of Dr. Doom, aka Victor Von Doom, is a variant from a different universe. Although he may resemble Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man), he is a distinct character. The multiverse allows for endless possibilities, making it exciting to see him face off against Marvel heroes. The twist of him looking like Tony Stark but being a different person altogether will surely create a thrilling and challenging situation for the heroes to navigate.

Sadly though, i think marvel NEEDS a move like this. Its a gamble but they've lost the publics trust for so long post endgame, they need to drive hype for the next year or so for any projects, and I feel this does the job. I personally have no ick for recasting actors as different roles. Iron man's sacrifice is still there, untouched. Its not the character coming back. Hell they did it with Loki as a different variant and that was fine. The nice thing about marvel movies is from now until Doomsday, there are going to be alot of projects and opportunity for lesser known or even just actors that havent been in the MCU already to shine and for them to showcase. In a perfect world, we never get here, but I think they need something to drum up general audiences again to stick around for the all the movies and shows that are gona release until this movie and I think this COULD work. A gamble indeed though. I am personally still holding out hope for them to do a proper X-men universe/story. That would bring me in so fast.

I got mixed feelings on this. I love RDJ and his take on Iron Man. However, I think Doom should have been played by someone else. I’m always going to see him as Iron Man and would’ve hoped he returned as a variant of Iron Man like Superior Iron Man.

It is a “safety” move. MCU has failed so hard for at least two years straight. After the Kang disasterthey are too scared to take a risk on another actor who may turn out to be a hiding secrets that would get them cancelled so they defaulted to someone they already know and trust. Casting of Doom was more about fan service and to create a buzz, success for Marvel. Sad that the Kang story arch has been squashed, we might never see him as an Avengers level threat. Also if they are trying to end the multiverse, i feel like using the same actor from before makes things just as confusing moving forward. But I get it..Doom is similar to Stark in some ways.

I agree. Granted they could do stuff with like makeup to disguise RDJ or maybe just have him wear the mask the majority of the time. Dude has range as shown in Oppenheimer. So I think he can pull off the character. it just might be confusing for the characters and audience who know him as Iron Man. I'll wait for trailers of course like I always do. At least in the phase 1 movies you had Nick Fury in the end credits assembling a team, Shang-Chi, Dr Strange Multiverse etc. feels like there's nothing tying the movies together against one big baddie. Im imagining im the minority here, but im not sure i like this for multiple reasons. 1. I dont know why they're dropping Kang. The MCU is not new to recasts and I would have liked to have seen his story play out in a battle with the Avengers. 2. I think its been evident, but especially now, that the MCU is pulling some of DCs mistakes in getting too cute. I dont need some multiversal explination for the FF and Doom. The Xmen I get because you have to explain mutants in the MCU which till now didn't have them. The FF on the other hand is plug and play. Just give us the FF and Doom and dont convolute it. They did it with Spider-Man, I dont know why they can't with the FF. 3. As much as I love RDJ.....really? The MCUs down turn isnt so bad that they needed to do this. Not saying he'll be bad, in fact he'll probably be great, but this is 100% a situation of digging in the old well. I do like that the Russos are back though.

They dropped Kang because the Jonathan Majors was convicted of assault and harassment. He's been busy with a domestic violence intervention program and I'm not sure that's the brand identity Marvel was going for. Also, Ant-man and The Wasp: Quantumania was terrible. It didn't really make the character compelling or interesting.

I believe that Kang should have been recast and we should have seen the character play out his conflict with the Avengers. Also yes Ant-Man Quantumania wasn't the best, but it still exists. It still forwarded him as a universal threat and we also saw him presented as such with Loki. All I'm saying as a viewer it's annoying and unsatisfying to see a narrative built up and then suddenly dropped before its conclusion. Just because Antman stunk doesn't mean a clash with the Avengers would have.

Actually just watched Infinity War and after Thanos WON, and the Hereos were down and Tony Stark said 'we are beaten its over' was the perfect time to introduce Dr. Doom as a villain, but like Lex Luthor one that had the same fight the heroes did and he also suffered, in many ways, and didn't appreciate Thanos being the one who did it and not Doom himself. That would have been fantastic to see Doom introduced and completely blindside the audience but realize that Doom would be seriou sand committed to defeating Thanos, and in the comics it was Doom who created Time Travel, not Iron Man, and thus he would be poised to succeed and realize he can't do it alone. He is Doom, but he also knows the plan must succeed and yes, he is Doom so at some point, when he Thanos Snaps returning the universe back to all those living people, it would be remade in Dooms Image. Don't tell me for a nanosecond you would not go to see that movie.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that in the comics we only see Doom's face from the time before his accident. Because of Doom's humongous ego, he hid his scarred face behind a metal mask. That means that RDJ will be doing mostly voice and motion capture work, which makes sense not only as a way to have RDJ double dip but also means RDJ doesn't have to maintain a heroic physique. John Byrne had a great take on Doom where he postulated that Victor was only lightly scarred after the accident in college but because of his massive ego it was actually his decision to put the still burning hot metal mask on his face that actually led to the horrible disfiguring burns but that even over time his face has begun to heal (But given Wade Wilson's face how much further can one go). I really hope they don't go the Tony Stark variant route and just embrace everything about Doom, especially the whole King of Latveria back story.

RDJ is a good actor and has played many characters. This does not need to be an alternate Tony Stark becoming "Dr Doom". He is capable of playing Victor Von Doom. They can shave his facial hair, change his hairdo, give him an eastern-European accent, have him get scarred up and then wear the mask, then they put some Darth Vader-y electronic FX on his voice. He will disappear in the role and we won't think of him as Iron Man anymore. Maybe we won't even see him as regular unscarred Victor right away. This made me say, "WH-A-A-A-T????!?!!" at first, but I now think it'll be cool. I was super-skeptical about Chris Evans as Captain America, but he nailed it. His Cap was nothing like his Human Torch, obviously.

My headcanon is this is Lewis Strauss after he gets exposed at the end of Oppenheimer. He changes his identity and goes to Latveria to study physics in order to get back at Oppenheimer and all the scientists (including Howard Stark) on their own turf. He builds a time machine to travel back in time and change the past but shenanigans happen and he ends up going to the present, killing that multiverse's Tony Stark by accident. He takes his memories and tries to travel back in time again, but ends up in the MCU multiverse.

I think galactus will be a universe eater instead of a world eater. He will eat the fantastic four’s universe at the end of the film and Reed will only be able to save the fantastic four themselves by taking them to another universe (maybe 616, but I’d day it’ll be a different one entirely… maybe they get stranded in a dinosaur world or something very fantastic four-esque as they’re always going to weird worlds in the comics). Doom will be a part of the fantastic four universe but will also narrowly escape, but in a smarter way (going to a universe of his choice with all of his equipment still) he will know galactus is coming and say he can save all of the universes and drag everyone into battle world. I think this doom is a version of tony stark and the whole “different mask same task” being him saying tony starks task of trying to save everyone the best way he knows how; the mad scientist route (which we’ve already seen in things such as ultron) Maybe battleworld will be designed outside of time and space like the void from the TVA, or could be a different place entirely. Galactus can’t just be in fantastic 4. He’s a big bad, he will return.

I'm with you. Dooms my favorite villain in comics and having his debut in the MCU be just a Stark Variant feels hollow. There's no build up at all currently for him as a villain so I feel like this is going to come across as a desperate move to try and get people excited. I've been counting down the days to see him brought back and done well for once and I'll stay a bit skeptical till we get closer to the movies release.

I’m not gonna lie. They should have casted someone much younger. I love Robert Downey but this isn’t it. They should have kept Kang and it feels like Doom’s storyline might be rushed. If he isn’t the main villain for black Panther 3, I’m gonna lose it.

I think it makes more sense to be Dr. Doom because it’s like being the opposite of Iron Man. But also similar, they both wear suits of metal they both have the arsenal of clones they both are scientist and Rich. but One is good. The other is evil one has no powers. The other has powers. Man with the captain of his team Dr. Doom is the enemy of fantastic four..

@@hatefr33Dr. Doom and iron man are no where near alike personality wise. And the mannerisms alone are totally different plus. You got Dr. Doom description wrong as well. Stark has no powers in a metal armor. While doom is only second to Dr strange in the mystic arts. Doom isn’t evil. He wants to protect the world but just wants to rule it his way. He don’t oppress the latverians in his country. The armor doom wears is also mystic but has technology, on another level to iron man. And more intelligent. Trained his body to beyond peak physical condition as well. Doom is basically a villain Batman with mystic powers and vast superior technology knowledge. His ego is the only thing that stops him most times
