I feel bad for her too. How hurtful to be spoken to like that by the person her father married. It sounds like they once had a healthy relationship. Guests are interviewed and asked a lot of questions before they go on the show. Step daughter probably talked about a lot more history with that woman and the editing crew chose to highlight her talking about getting new countertops and other gifts to fire up the interaction even more. These shows do that and it’s infuriating. I’m not sure this woman needed much poking though. She was even aggressive toward the other woman being scammed by the same scammer! These elderly people who are sending scammers thousands, even millions of dollars are ensuring a crappy nursing home for themselves in the future. The kind of money this woman has/had, could pay for in home care. I don’t see anyone being willing to take her into their home to care for her, not after she’s spent her deceased husband’s money on scammers and disrespected his daughter on television like that. Also, her name and information is on scammer’s radar now as someone who takes the bait. Someone will try her again, especially if she doesn’t change her personal information, such as email and phone number.

I have met people numerous times in my life that when you prove to them that something they believe for a very long time is incorrect they get so very angry. It means it's become part of their identity, and when you rock the foundations of someone's identity, they feel extremely vulnerable and extremely threatened. It takes a very self aware person, and a person very grounded and confident in their identity to accept hard truths like that, and most people barely have any idea who they are, so they cling onto small things that make them feel significant, and when you strip that away all of a sudden they feel naked, exposed, and hollow.

@@Ectopistes79 I have an alternative Theory …that it is fear. Fear of the alternative. Which in her case is being alone. To her even having a fantasy lover who is fake was better than no lover at all. I also believe this is the case for all other peoples I run into that don’t want to face being wrong about something. To them, the alternative is worse than the current belief. Take religion for example, if someone fears death and believes in religion and A heaven, and you prove to them (or try to prove to them) that there is no heaven, they will get very angry and very fearful because the alternative (nothingness) is far worse

Why is this lady SO mad at her step daughter? She has fears that she has been taken advantage of and is taking it out on her step daughter. And I must say, my grandmother would NEVER act this way EVER! Her hateful language and lack of manners most likely have her parents turning in their graves. I know she is hurt and scared and it is coming out in anger but please, have more manners and act like a lady!!!

Telling that other victim "I don't want you in my life" was contextually irrational and came out of the blue. This disjointed thinking although subtle sounds familiar to me.
