Texans better be building some serious infrastructure to accommodate all the influx of people and business. It's already behind. Good problem to have I guess.

A lot of the growth in the two years is residential which is tough… The housing and land market is insane anywhere in the towns where booms/construction is/are happening… Land value has almost quadrupled in the non incorporated areas… Which is typically where they build large plants/buildings. I guess if you can get it, why not… but your screwed if you are in the market right now.

Once the samsung factory is complete (if they ever finish that building) not sure from where are they going to find enough workers to fill the positions on the factory.

What I would like to know is what will the plan for site look like, when built. I cannot seem to find this information and like Giga TX. Can you find this or was your thumbnail a complete work of fiction.

The thumbnail is a different chip plant because I couldn't find plans

Is this in part a response to the threat China poses to Taiwan? If China invades Taiwan, it will be critical to have massive semiconductor fabs stateside to buffer the loss of those factories.
@urbaninternational

That's a good question I'm honestly not sure and will have to look more into it since Taiwan does control a lot of the industry

Answer: Because the US State Department is making them do this, even though Samsung has economies of scale and infrastructure throughout East, South, and Southeast Asia, and a much larger pool of qualified technicians in Asia. Like TSMC, Samsung is staffing their US facilities mainly with homegrown and trained Asian employees. They don't want to waste time and money trying to compete with Intel, AMD, and Nvidia for an.inadequate pool of qualified US personnel.

This is not true. I uses to work at the samsung olant in north austin. A vast majority like 80% plus is american workers from the area.

I am always weary of these announcements from international firms. I often think they just try to exploit the tax incentives like the Foxconn deal in Wisconsin.

Waiting for the day they to it without a 90% tax incentive. The public is coughing up for all that infrastructure on offer but the public will never make a return on it. This is the same strategy municipalities have done for box stores and malls sone the 80s and it’s rotted the American economy from the inside out.

And the locals and state get huge economic development and US get significant boost in necessary chips. It’s symbiotic imo. Better Samsung invest in US than China or Russia.🎉

Yep agreed… Projects like this bring great opportunities and revenue to the local folks/businesses… Definitely a spike in thousands of tradesman and tourists/visitors needing goods/services during construction for at least a year or two up to 8 years depending on how much they build. Great project for sure!
