Represented by the battle between the titans and the gods, "The Battle For Olympus" delves deep into life with depression. Chaos reigns as hopelessness controls the mind. Some moments may seem happy, others may be confusing, but they all end with the same low feeling.
I had a conversation with Hannah Moore* a couple months ago where I mentioned an earlier piece that was being performed, and she asked me, "what'd you write this one about? I know you like to write about very deep topics." "The Battle For Olympus" embodies my passion for composition. This piece was very difficult to write given how emotional it is to me. There are many different experiences in my life that are represented in this piece that have pushed me to my limit of what I can put into a piece. I'm very proud of how this has turned out and hope you enjoy it!
* Hannah is a graduate student at The Hartt School studying percussion, as well as being a fellow composer
