+yaretzi cardenas villa Some people are just rooted into the 70's Rock Star image...it's an anachronism; something from a different time and place brought into today's culture! It's all good..different strokes for different folks! Sometimes I don't like appearing so conservative! Good work by the way!!

Nice. I bought my own mandolin pretty much solely because of my love of that song. Hand built in England. It's truly a lovely instrument.
@thetarotpirate7 жыл бұрын
Dom Polito friends. The hair is inherited. His entire family has it. And sorry he's no jammer. Plays in one of THE BEST north american touring 'note for note' Led Zepplin acts you will ever hear. He kills on guitar. Jimmy Page bowing technique and all. Nice guy making real work of his skills. From Toronto Ontario.

One would assume that JPJ wrote the music to this one, but I've read Page wrote it after picking up Jones' mandolin and came right out with it with Robert conjuring up the lyrics in the mode of "Lord of the Rings". Music can happen spontaneously when a musician picks up a new instrument for the first time and immediately find something to create. The mandolinist here plays this classic superbly. ZOSO forever. Sandy Denny adds her beautiful voice to the song that really brings the tale to life. Would love to see a live version of this with Sandy doing her part. I don't know that it ever happened.

Please post a link to a video/tutorial where some one actually teachs on how to play this song, not just zoom through twice as fast as the recording!!!! I would buy this in Mandolin Tabluture/ sheet music - has anyone ever seen it for sale anywhere ? Please post a weblink if you have found it on the web or have found an online retailer who sells the real Mando tab. Thanks in advance to all.

I'm so afraid to order the Epiphone shown here. I've heard so much bad testimony regarding this model. I am thinking that John Paul Jones was playing an even lesser brand than Epiphone at the time. Wondering what people think of the Epiphone and if I should be looking at another brand? I don't give a rat's ass about the expensive Gibson F style. I'm perfectly happy with an instrument that doesn't have this 'over the top' build. I've had bad luck with mandolins so far. Stay away for Gold Tone!
@tripheath6 жыл бұрын
House RN.... Mandolin are all about the setup.... Even with a $50 Rogue, they can play nice.... But don't think Gibson is just an overpriced name.... Unless you get a lemon, they are worth every penny.... If you don't play already, get a friend who does too help pick a starter for you..... Then, order a set of Thomastik Infield flat wound strings, which will cost more than the mandolin, online,(because you can not find these in a store), then,..... Take those strings with you & "get a true professional set up by a Luther" which will cost more than the mandolin... Then play at least an hour a day for a year... And then you can grow your hair out, get a perm and make some you tube vids.... Hehe..

Mathias Saldanha that would be the rain song. (i know what you're thinking: omg, this guy has no social life, all he does is watch KZbin, look how fast he replied. I do have a social, i just happened to be using my phone right now)
@matthewsaldanha14387 жыл бұрын
+Average Consumer Hell no man, I get that haha. Sometimes I don't get a reply for months so I dig that you replied quickly. I love The Rain Song, John Paul Jones' piano toward the end ("I felt the coldness of my winter...") is just uplifting and beautiful. Have you seen their concert film "The Song Remains The Same" yet? If not, well worth a watch. They do an excellent montage for that song. It'd be on KZbin actually, but I always prefer DVDs. I think you're lucky to be able to name a definitive favourite Zeppelin song though, I still can't do that haha.
@awadaawada67387 жыл бұрын
Mathias Saldanha yeah dude, the song remains the same is a must watch, the rain song is amazing, the chords are just amazing to say the least, and Robert plant's orgasm equivalent of singing is amazing too, and the song is definitely uplifting, so yeah i am proud to call it my favorite.
