My great uncle, my grandmother's brother, wanted to join the Marine Corps when Pearl Harbor was attacked. He couldn't because he was 16 at the time but as soon as he turned 18 he joined up. He was killed in Iwo Jima.

Here's a fact, the actual start of Pacific Theater is actually in Malaysia with the Japanese invasion of Malaya which began 30 minutes before the attack on Pearl Harbor

MoH Pacific Assault is one of my favourite MoH Games I’ve played. You’re gonna really enjoy this game. At times the game feels like CoD WaW in the Pacific Campaign but as a rated T game. Can’t wait to see you experience it a lot more since this is the closest thing to also a sequel to MoH Rising Sun which I know you wish they made. But great playthrough looking forward to much more of the historical talk in the next MoH Pacfic Assault playthrough.

I can't remember what it's called but I played one with better graphics and it was also set in the Pacific. I loved it as a kid, I think I played it on my PS2, possibly the 360 but it was so good and made me understand war pretty well as a young child.

Today's the 83rd anniversary of the attack. I remember playing this part when I was 10-11 years old. It freakin blew me away. Even now, no matter how many planes you shot down, those ships are going down and sailors and marines are going to die. But it doesn't mean you can't try.

And I love how they show the absolute chaos and confusion of the attack on Pearl harbor because when you look at the footage of the attack you'll see sailors doing their normal duties while everyone else is scanning the skies because they actually thought that the planes were army planes doing Sunday practice

They actually made a documentary during the war about Tarawa called with the Marines on Tarawa and from what I read it was to calm the public down because a lot of American civilians were shocked by the high number of casualties and part of that is because on that Island there was like high concrete sea walls and a bunch of other obstacles that the Marines didn't expect to face

This was the first game to my knowledge that used active ragdolls, years before they were made popular by things like Euphoria in GTA4. They don’t always activate when you kill enemies but you will eventually notice, especially when shot with BAR or rifle rounds.

What also made the attack on Pearl Harbor also not a complete success for Japan was because they mostly attacked the ships but not the repair yards, war factories, fuel refineries and tanks or the submarines which were underground.

Despite losing three ships, the rest that were damaged or sunk were refloated, repaired, and returned to service.

Of course later on you had the famous battle off midway in which all off the Japanese aircraft carriers and dozens off other ships got sunk. So by that point the Japanese navy was gone.

Oh the army still does the machine gun crawling thing with live ammunition. That’s the NIC course. But it’s extremely safe. The guns are so high up that even if you stood up and jumped you wouldn’t be hit.

My friends mom’s dad was on board the USS Oklahoma when it keeled over and capsized and was one of the lucky few that survived it. His dad’s dad was actual on Pearl on shore patrol When the Japanese and survived by hiding under a fuel truck
