The Battle of the Plains of Abraham was 21% losses for the French and 15% for the British.

So I did some number crunching of 7 Years War Battles. I looked at 13 major battles, not including sieges, and found that Prussian casualties per battle averaged 21%, with a high of 41% and a low of 3%. The Austrians averaged 26%, with a high of 41% and a low of 7%. In the French and Indian War it was harder to find major battles that weren't sieges but I came up with 6. The British average was 19% with a high of 29% and a low of 14%. The French were more cautious apparently with an average of 11% losses, with a high of 21% and a low of 1%.

This is excellent, thank you. Wonder if there's a way to get this system to reflect those numbers; the Quebec battle had like 60% unit casualties at the end. The statistical difference you've found could be due to doctrine or troop type; British had a lot of regulars while the French often had a lot of supplementing light infantry and Native American forces, so could be a discrepancy in engagement style.

@@Justegarde It seems like most Army's got to the point 0f about 20% casualties and called it a day. Maybe you could make that the demoralization point with a die roll each turn to continue up to 40% if you pass. That seems to be the extreme before one side or the other quit in the battles I looked at.

What about making second disorder a rout?

This could also work, yea

@@Justegarde I suppose you could also get into strength point markers and reducing them by 1 each time they are disrupted. To represent those fleeing and cowering.

Why didnt the French stay in the fortress of Quebec?
@Justegarde4 ай бұрын
In the game, you’re not allowed to set up there. In reality, they didn’t feel they could withstand a siege and Montcalm wanted to try and set the British back by winning a decisive battle against the majority of British forces

@@Justegarde In hindsight it would appear to have been a mistake.
@Justegarde4 ай бұрын
@@billjenkins9422 Yeah, but there was no way to know that at the time. I personally think losing Quebec to a siege was equally a mistake. He was dealt a bad hand and tried to get some good fortune, which realistically was his only path to victory, or at least favorable terms. The British had the St. Lawrence blockaded at the time and there was no help coming from France; they were effed in the long term.

In reality, Bougainville never appeared, and if he did so, he appeared on british rear, coming from Montreal direction!
