The battle of Uhud was about the right of being buried in the same land/mahal, it was not a physical fight and no one died. The graves were the proof for descendants of the dead to remain and live on that land. Remembering the Quran (hafezah) was to remember the owners of the grave to prevent future disputes since the graves were dug by their owners in advance and nobody except a few knew how to read and write Farsi / Arabic. Uhud was an argument amongst the local Arabs to accept the Christianity custom of burying their dead in their own property protected by a Cross on the grave.
