A big thank you to RSO Mike for letting me borrow this Absolute Unit of a LPVO. If not that its heavy, or big. Its that its built specifically to be as tough as possible. I can absolutely respect, and get behind that reason. It isnt just tough, its a performer as well. Very similar to the Accupower 1-8FFP from many moons ago. Glass is good, illumination is good, fit and finish are great. The only negative are the turrets and the slight windage shift on the tracking test. Fortunately once you set the windage and elevation the rest is all holding anyway. So that doesnt really matter...

I currently use this in the Marines. I have been in the shooting world for a long time but I didn’t have a ton of experience with LPVOs before, so I can’t really say how it compares to others but a lot of my Marines like it. I think it’s a good optic so far and it does the job. Coming from the RCO it greatly increases capabilities.

I have one of these on my DD5v3, and it's fantastic. Definitely on the heavier side, though. My illumination is also a little cleaner than this, especially on the numbers. That cross dot reticle is the main reason I picked this over some of the other options. You can zoom in on a target and still see what you're shooting at while quickly and easily picking up the reticle.

I've got one, battery life on setting 5 is about a month. Setting 7 is noon in the snow bright. I yeeted my rifle off a quad at 45mph, and it barely scratched the finish. For a general purpose LPVO, you could do a lot worse.

This is THE most intelligent design out there simply because the MOA dials are designed to deliver a placeholder zero and from that holds on reticle deliver bullet placement where desired. For me the FFP design would serve for exacting recognition of a consistent sight picture. No doubt this scope is a fix for an ACOGs limitations.

Trijicon VCOG 1-8x w integrated mount + Geissele adapter = 30 oz Vortex Razor HD G3 1-10x (22oz) + LTW scope mount (6oz) = 28 oz Nightforce ATACR 1-8x (21oz) + LTW scope mount (6oz) = 27 oz Eotech Vudu 1-10x (21oz) + LTW scope mount (6oz) = 27 oz The weight concern seems overblown when compared to its actual competitors, especially considering its eyebox is significantly more forgiving. Just look at the number of people in 2023 running Razor 1-10s with an RDS on top. If this will ever be used in any other situation than benchrest, eyebox should be one of your top two concerns imo. Reticle being the other. So for a 2-3oz weight increase, you're getting an indestructible scope relative to Vortex/Primary Arms options which are known to not be as durable.

I own the vcog sco. It's like nothing else out there. The reticle is great and will keep this scope in service for a long time as calibers and weapons systems will change over time. I only wish it had a range estimation calculator somewhere in there. It would make life easier for Marines. Also this is "set and forget". The turrets do the job and will work if a guy loses a cap. They won't move on him.

@@CDOES after having owned the PLX-C for several months I’m extremely happy with it. I don’t wish I had gone with either of the other optics. There is one thing I wish for (that none of these optics has): I wish the center dot and reticle had independent adjustment. Ideally the center dot could be screaming bright or off altogether, while the reticle could be off, or turned up just enough for low light precision shooting.

Just picked up a TR25 with the silly green triangle. I absolutely love this optic. It’s not for precision. I can’t wait until you review one. The tritium is pretty good at night. I just ordered button lights and will buy a rubber cap that fits the fiber disc. Place button light under cap and cap over the fiber disc and endless light transmission while nuclear bright if I want that. I’ve even thought about buying bigger tritium vials and glueing them to the cap. One thing I noticed is the tritium in the optic is so bright I can see it light up the disc on top of the optic.

@@CDOES for all I need it for it’s perfect. My dream optic is a shorter 1x4 (even 1x3 would be good) using today’s technology with larger lenses, fiber, and battery. But noooooo…. They’ll produce 1x12s that are 6 pounds, a foot long, you need to take dramamine at highest magnification, and yet still not day time bright. I want to see sun dots if I chose to max out the brightness. Still getting a TR24 later this year.

i have a vcog 1-8, credo 1-6 and several other scopes, the eye box and eye relief is so much more forgiving on the vcog. It was very noticeable at 2 gun matches when i switch optics. I feel kinda spoiled by it and start struggling in awkward positions with other scopes since im not used to tight eyeboxes anymore 😂 i got mine for 1600 on sale almost 3 years ago and felt like it was a great purchase. cons are like you said in the video though, The weight is pretty bad and the illumination is not bright enough for day time use 😅 also i dont own Night vision but suspect the lowest setting is too bright for night vision use since i can clearly see it with my eyes 👀 i never turn it off and i leave illumination on the "n" so i can see it at night and the battery lasts forever on that setting.

I was seriously torn between the VCOG and the PLX-C for use as a combat optic (leopold MK6 was also in the running but is now unobtainium). I’ve seen all of your LPVO videos and I greatly value what you have to say - you use the best methodology on the web. My optic of choice had to be FFP with capped turrets, and I’d prefer a more complex reticle. I ultimately ordered the PLX-C before you had reviews out on either of these choices 😭. I based my decision on how much some people hate the VCOG on forums, cost, and the lack of VCOG reviews. The small size and weight of the PLX were bonuses too. Now that I’ve seen you review both optics, I’m pretty happy with my choice. I just hope the internals of the Primary Arms hold up over time. Thank you for your reviews, I’d love to hear your take on my decision.

The Nightforce was MUCH brighter and felt better in the hand, BUT the fish eye effect of the lens on the ATACR was very noticeable (dare I say it was even bad). The other interesting difference was the scope shadow. On the PLX the shadow creeps in as you move your head, whereas on the ATACR shadow was nearly on/off, there or not there.

The SCO is great and all but tbh most drills I’ve ran in the field with it have been on 1X power. Going up to 8X or even 6X power is cool and all in an LP OP but other than that you can hit up to 400yds with 1X power. If you want to go to 500 and think you need more then one quick twist I find usually brings me to either 3X or 4X power. At that point keep the fucking RCO

Not shure this is worth the pricetag-and I’m not shure having that forged casing and the crappier unhash marked/stiff and imprecise turrets warrant spending another 1000 buck on a credo base-it’s actually ridiculous. understand why the military had to go to redo and design this overbuilt tank for those crayon eating geniuses in the marines-lmfao there isn’t even measurements and hash marks on the turrets for precise work becuase they know they aren’t going use em/obvious they dont want them fiddling with the optics at all which is an issue for a 2000 optic that is 1-8 and has a mil hash reticle for ide suppose precise work? I don’t think this is the best option at all for our troops- finding someone to clone and UPDATE Schmidt and bender like dual plane system after TWENTY PLUS YEARS of it existing (and no one coming with a competitive design) would be amazing for our troops and provide them the versatile optic they need. That would never happen in this era of mil.ind. Complex corruption and nepotism. Your ar is only so tuff, your not going to be running it over and brutalizing it(it’s not an ak lol) and your def not going to be brutalizing THE OPTIC YOU SPENT 2000 ON, or brutalizing the optic your issued that your life depends on just like you wouldn’t your rifle! so why would you need a ridiculously overbuilt optic as a civilian that is not giving you the higher end precision features including lightness and a compact frame that we need since this isn’t being used for duty… another continuation of trijicon not comprehending the desires of the market

Not bad during it's time considering these has been out for almost half a decade of course now with all these Chinese made compact LPVO bodies their weight is going to be way lighter to the VCOG.
