This Sideshow did not decide WW2, Stalingrad did.
@Mr71paul71

No !!! British heavy bomber command won ww2 by bombing Germany back to the stoneage and that's official as even the Germans post war admitted this is why they lost the war. The Russians were the sideshow and without the air war that destroyed German industry could NEVER have broken through German lines.
@starcorpvncj
@starcorpvncj Ай бұрын
This is only partly correct because 85% of German casualties in WW2 were caused on the Eastern Front. While Stalingrad was a catastrophic defeat for Germany in 1942, it was not the decisive battle. This honour goes to the huge tank battle at Kursk that started on 5 July 1943. Luckily, I am here to set the record straight and educate those who think they can educate others but can't.

actually several key events led to the war ending Stalingrad was the turning point in the east for sure.... along with the battle of Kursk Without these two events on the eastern front...Russians are out of the war. As for the western front We like the Russians...have Adolf to thank for victory as it was his failures....poor command which handed the allies the win Taking Italy out was huge. It enabled the allies to attack on mulitple fronts...where as before this....Normandy was the only route in and they were waiting for it. Honestly....of all the key battles of the western front The event that most contributed to the win in the west was the failed assassination attempt of Adolf before the Normandy invasion. With a competant and capable commander like Rommel at the helm...Normandy fails abismally and the western front never gets going.

Agreed. America only lost 407,300 soldiers and 12,100 civilians. Canada only lost 42,000 soldiers and 1,200 civilians. Whereas Russia lost 6,750,000 soldiers and 4,100,000 civilians.

@@MPlain All of Hitler's best soldiers and equipment were used up in Russia. By the time America got into the war, the Western Allies only had to deal with Hitler's third string of old men, young kids, and junk equipment.

You got the wrong soldier and the wrong country on your promo. It should be a soldier from Russia and the country of Russia. And this isn't because I love Russia or communism, because I don't. It's because statistically Russia sacrificed far more than any other Allied country. If it wasn't for Russia, we might all be speaking German right now.

Bill....

Just wondering if Stalin did not sign a nonaggression treaty with Hitler and supply Germany with vast quantity of war making materials before Hitler turned against Russia, would Germany be so successful in the beginning of the war? What if Hitler delayed Operation Barbarossa until he secured the western front and struck a deal with UK, would everyone including all Russian be speaking German now? Also, if the allied did not execute Operation Torch, Operation Husky, Operation Overlord, would Russia be able to defeat German armies in the East? What if Russia did not sign a nonaggression treaty with Japan, would Russia be able to shift the majority of its military to the west? Finally, if allied did not supply Russia with large quantity of war materials, would Russia be able to hold its ground before Operation Overlord? Yes, Russian military and civilian casualty were far greater than that of the allied, that number did not mean that Russia was the sole or even main reason for the defeat of Hitler, there were so many other contributing factors to single out a decisive one.

Best in the world😂😂 most drugged and indoctrinated maybe but far from the best. It took them between 1,800 and 2,500 rounds to hit a single allied aircraft. It took the allies 3 rounds to hit a Luftwaffe aircraft (see VT fuses). They did, arguably have the best weapons, aircraft (for awhile) and tanks and still couldn't make it work. Give the propaganda a break. Weak.

True, the first Special Forces Unit was a joint US/Canadian unit. Their training took place primarily in Montana and was nearly barbaric. Those selected were the best of the best of both military's: Bachelor's degree or better (many were engineers with Ph.ds) Alpine and cross country skiers, mountain climbers. The movie shows a 1903 Springfield bolt action rifle firing semiautomatic like a M-1 Garland (US standard rifle). The Captain is wearing a 101st Airborne patch, he should be wearing a red arrow head patch. In tktal, technically incorrect.

The Normandy campaign had very little effect on the ultimate "win or lose" of the axis defeat in WW2. The colossal battles on the Eastern front lead to the USSR defeating Germany and completely dwarfed the importance of anything or battle that occured on the westren theatre. Germany should have, if anything, let the westren Allies win the war and prevent destruction from the Russians... It was that bad of a losing fight
