Happy birthday Cheryl, two days late. I hope your 71st year is as wonderful as you are! By the way, I just love your sweater book. You are such a gifted teacher. Thank you, thank you!

What a lovely offer, thank you! I also have a few words about "trolls" who gave this one or similar videos a thumbs down. Why oh why would anybody feel compelled to do that? I mean, if you're not interested in whatever it is that's being discussed, why not just move on to another video you ARE interested in? There are billions of videos on KZbin.
@CherylBrunetteTV6 жыл бұрын
Thank you siyaz. Some people are so desperately unhappy that they can't celebrate ANYTHING, even a gift. In all the years of watching KZbin I have given only one thumbs down and it's because the information was demonstrably wrong. Then I privately messaged the creator to let her know how and why it was wrong. She didn't correct it but by then it was out of my hands.
@siyaz6 жыл бұрын
Knitting with Cheryl Brunette , I agree. In my little utopian world, KZbin differentiates between legitimate thumbs down such as yours i.e. finding the content inaccurate, distasteful etc. and people who don’t feel like knitting that day. I’m being facetious; the point I’m trying to make is I wish people wouldn’t forget there’s a human being at the other end of a video who is trying to be nice and to please. Please move on if you’re not willing to accept that with gratitude. As I said, there’s no shortage on this platform.

😊😊 one of my problems is getting quicker at knitting and altering patterns to fit bigger sizes as the ones I like are normally too small 😊 happy birthday for August 🎂🎁 and thank you for giving your time.

Thank you and you're welcome Jo-anne. Altering patterns to fit bigger sizes is a common problem so you're not alone on that one.

Thanks Amy. My grandmother was Austro-Hungarian and my mother was her oldest daughter, born only one year after they entered the US. I was introduced very young to many fiber arts. I wasn't very good, of course, but had the opportunity, when I was 7, to become quite proficient for a child. Some day I'll tell that story.

I am not entering because I have yet to knit anything except swatches, learning to knit and purl. I can read the charts and patterns. I would love to knit a sweater someday, maybe with fair isle around neck and chest area. Currently, but don't have enough of one color of yarn to make anything bigger than one skein projects. To win a 90 minute one-on-one session with you would be awesome! I pray that every person who has gotten enough experience to try to knit a sweater has the courage to enter your giveaway. God bless you for being so generous with your time and experience! To the entrants: If you have a problem or lack of courage with entering this giveaway, please know she won't bite you, nor call you dumb. No question about knitting a sweater is silly, foolish, crazy, too small, too big, dumb, stupid, nor anything negative. You are a child of God and loved by Him. He gave you a wonderful brain with many questions about many things. There is no shame in asking for help. Actually, asking for help is the best way to help others. Good luck everyone! God bless you all!

Hi Cheryl, I'm Marie, from Australia. I only just stumbled on your videos and this offer (too late of course, as it is now October 2018!) I was taught to knit as a young girl by my mother. she never followed a pattern. she made up a lot of her own. I was mesmerized. I knitted a lot of things growing up, always asking my mothers advice and help. I've taken it up again, and she, unfortunately, is not here with us anymore, and I always wish there was someone I could ask for help. The gauge has always been something I wanted to learn more about. I watched your gauge tutorial and you explained it beautifully. I have made many tank tops, but all on guesswork and good luck, writing down what I did as I went along. I have subscribed because I feel that I'm ready to be a better knitter. Please can you assist me with what to do from here? Thank you kindly

Hi Marie. Knitting is such a HUGE subject that it is difficult to make a recommendation of where to go next. Think about what you want from knitting . . . clothing? Just to learn new things? There are project knitters and process knitters. Which are you? Do you want a finished project or do you just want to enjoy the process. I am a combination of both. Write down what you really want to do and go from there.

It depends Dottie. Is the person asking for help comfortable with that idea or will it make her or him self-conscious and thus interfere with their learning? Does the problem involve a written pattern that's still under copyright and cannot be shown without permission? Is the subject general enough that it will be useful to other people? All those questions will enter into the decision about that.

This sounds interesting...will you be posting the result? I think it would be great to watch, there are always questions that others think of that I love the answers to. Are we going to get to see the studio you built, or have you done that and I missed it? I just keep spreading into more and more rooms but still don't have enough room to work. A few 'pro' tips might be great.

Deemail! This is a video of the studio from a couple of years ago. It has changed again, of course. We now have hard electricity, it has been stained with eco-friendly substance outside, there's a ductless heat pump instead of the little space heater which was not enough in the winter. We still haven't been able to solve the leaking in the corners problem despite lots of goop. It looks like it may have to be clad on the outside with some sort of siding. Nonetheless, I love the space. (It's even more crowded now but things move in and out of it. www.kickstarter.com/projects/143651703/cheryl-needs-a-studio/posts/1277967

I know . . . It was paying homage to my dear video mentor, a retired Hollywood Director of Photography and cameraman. He always told me he constantly watched the perimeter of the frame and not what was going on in the center which takes care of itself. He has moved out of the state now to be closer to family so now I have to remind myself of what he taught me rather than rely on his in-person directions.
