It was actually pretty funny stage banter, but still a tragedy that this is what happened to The Beach Boys. Yet, I wouldn't have it any other way - it's hilarious that people associate the Beach Boys with this, and you can shock them by declaring that they're your favourite band. You get a big "wtf" but then you drop Surf's Up and associated Brian Wilson lore on them and they realise the Beatles aren't all that
