Carl’s guitar playing is so present in the mix here. What a player he was
@ENigma-um8zw3 жыл бұрын
For real, he’s an incredible lead and dual rhythm player, he was also the one beach boy I’d want wish had been around long enough to write a memoir or two, I feel like that beautiful man powerfully underrated musical spirit that plays some of the most iconic simple but assertive if not sometimes brilliantly aggressive playing and attack, he is a legend within a family of legends to be eternally remembered as long as there are records and audio files and ears to hear them, it’s hard to argue with The Beach Boys rightful place In the rock n roll pantheon, given all that family and group had been through I bet Carl had some stories.
@h.markhorton81883 жыл бұрын
@@ENigma-um8zw very well put. You took the words out of my mouth. Carl was the spiritual center. Plus a totally totally underrated guitar player. He made all those key changes seem easy as key lime pie served by topless waitresses Down in Kokomo.

I dont know if Carl told the camera man to ''layoff'' him during the show but I could have just watched Carl Wilson the whole show lol, these >90s shows with him are so precious, as he'd by gone be '98 and done playing live by late 97 iirc -- Grateful to have seen with and the guys with my family uncles aunts and cousins in the early 90s at the MN state fair when I was a kid, and then one of my greatest concert treasures was seeing Brian Wilson and band perform the entirety of Pet Sounds, that felt like listening to Bach perform in person tbh, it was simply transcendent. Long live the Beach Boys and the Wilson-brothers and fam Legacy!

I was at a Beach Boys concert in Fairmount Park on the 4th of July, I think it was in the 1980's. I'm sure it was during daylight, so it wasn't this one. I remember people climbing up on the light poles, they were swaying around up there. We left early because the crowds were huge and we didn't want to caught in the traffic. Our car was parked in. We put the bumper against one of the cars that had us parked in and pushed it out of the way. There was a lot of smoking tires before we had enough room to get out of the parking space! When we got home the news was reporting that one of those light poles broke.

And an extremely expensive band, that lost money except in Asia. Love has the licensing rights from Brother Records of which he pays 25%. Brian turned down the option. The torch is passed. Small venues and amphitheaters are perfect and low overhead to pay the commission to Brother Records. Love has a fine tuned racing machine with incredible players.

Hey Elora, looks like ur even a bigger fan than me, and I'm now 60, but my Daughter is 23 and a singer, and I have her already hooked, I drip fed her by way a playlist cd in my car, she went to her first concert two years ago, she goes to this really trendy music college in Ireland and i always tell her to say they are the greatest band in the world, he tutor had her do her third yr assignment on the beachboys as they were the first band to be instrumental in the use of many types of instruments, and vocal arrangements, he of course didn't know she was a fan, I am assuming she will fly thru it.

They should have kept Stamos ass behind his drums and kept the dancing girls off stage COMPLETELY. And Billy Hinsche took one for the team WITH NO VASELINE on wipeout. they should have made STAMOS do the rapping since he's more matinee idol than musician. And during wipeout, Carl looked like he was forced at gunpoint. Mike might HAVE forced them at gunpoint to go along with all his cheeseball ideas.

The great Richie Canatta from Billy Joel's big hits era on sax & flute. Looks like Mike Meros on keyboards and Mike Kowalski on drums. Billy Hinsche & Matt Jardine there also. I think it's Steady Eddie Carter (touring member since late 60s) on bass. Strictly an oldies show except for the Calif Dream remake and the lame Summer in Paradise. No songs from the early 70's era (Sunflower, Surfs Up, Holland, So Tough). I'm surprised Stamos didn't do Forever (written by Dennis).
