新潟県上越市五智の郷津海岸に完成した日本海を一望できるカフェ「THE BEACH BUM（ザ・ビーチバム）」。
直江津海水浴場。中でもサーファーたちが集う人気のスポット郷津海岸。五智居多ケ浜シーサイドライン沿いを走ると、高台に一際印象的な外観の建物が見えてきます。テラス席を含む全席から日本海が一望できる最高のロケーションはこの地域で唯一無二。コーヒーはニュージーランド発祥の有名ブランド「オールプレス・エスプレッソ」の豆などオーナー自ら厳選したものを使用。イタリアのバリスタ大会でも使用されている一流マシンでその場でドリップ。ランチプレート、ワッフル、パンケーキ他スイーツなど全て手作りにこだわったフードメニューも魅力的。
BEACH BUM（ビーチバム）とは、カリフォルニアの海岸エリアから生まれたスラングで、「一日中ビーチでだらっと過ごす人、目的もなくだらだら遊んでいる人」という意味。オーナーさんのこだわりが光る、これまで上越エリアになかった新しいコンセプトのカフェです。
全天候型で日本海を一望できる大きな窓が特徴の店内、開放感あふれる本格的なデッキテラス席と合わせ飲食スペースは約35席。オンシーズンは朝11時から日没まで営業。夕日が沈む日本海とマジックアワーをお楽しみください。
"The Beach Bum Café, situated overlooking the Japan Sea at Gochi Gozu Coast in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, has been completed.
One of the popular spots where surfers gather is the Naoetsu Beach. As you drive along the Gochi Kotagahama Seaside Line, you will notice a remarkably impressive building on a hilltop. This location offers a unique and unparalleled view of the Japan Sea from every seat, including the terrace. The coffee served here is made using carefully selected beans, including those from Allpress Espresso, a renowned brand originating from New Zealand. The coffee is dripped using top-notch machines that are also used in prestigious barista competitions in Italy. The menu is enticing, with a focus on homemade food items such as lunch plates, waffles, pancakes, and other delightful sweets.
The term 'Beach Bum' is a slang term that originated from coastal areas in California. It refers to a person who spends their entire day idly relaxing on the beach, without any specific purpose. The Beach Bum Café embodies a new concept that was previously absent in the Joetsu area, showcasing the owner's dedication and passion."
