Tina really thought that Syd was there to mess with her and be a douchebag, but once she realized that she's there to make things better and that she can be appreciative of her work, her walls came crumbling down. As for Pete... well the thing is, everyone else is fucked up in one way or another. And Pete is an emotionally intelligent and well adjusted guy who genuinely cares for Sugar and her family (whom we'll see more of over time) and he just doesn't fit. When you're a mess and someone else is super nice and has their shit together, it's easy to hate them just for that.

@@Omn1Media I always say that Pete is an absolute stand-up guy that the family never gave a chance to 'stand-up,' but when they finally do, Pete is absolutely The Guy you want in your corner: Loyal, happy and friendly to a fault. He's a golden lab in a family of terriers and chihuahuas.

Tina finally breathing a sigh of relief at the end gets me. It is HARD WORK being that mean all the time. For no reason. Syd really did Tina a favor when she was not owed one and it’s a beautiful moment of kindness.

The not bringing ketchup thing is kinda a Chicago thing. And Ritchie is a purest and not thinking that kids or rather caring that kids might want ketchup lol. In Chicago, for a traditional Chicago hotdog, one would never put ketchup on a hotdog. The usual Chicago hot dog toppings are, yellow mustard, onions, neon green sweet pickle relish, tomato slices, pickle spear, celery salt and sport peppers. This is also called “dragged through the garden,” due to the many vegetable toppings. You may have heard that term called out I believe in episode one. There is also a hot dog called a Depression Dog in Chicago. Which is a steamed natural casing dog with only mustard, onions, plain relish and sport peppers, wrapped up with hand cut French fries. Which makes it kind of a meal. My personal favorite place for that is Gene & Judes in River Grove Illinois. Once again, no ketchup on that hot dog, in fact they don’t even have ketchup in the hot dog stand, you can’t request it. The McDonald’s next door has been dealing with customers asking for ketchup packets so much they have a sign up on the limit and how you can get of them, you can only get them with an order.

Pete isn't a Bear. Pete is just a guy, and the Bears (and the extended family, Richie for example) just don't connect to him. They're all a bit fucked as has been slightly touched upon up to now, and Pete is just... Pete.

This is the episode that really opened my eyes to this show. I was going through some heavy personal stuff when this show came out, and I binged this all the way through. When this episode went on, I knew this show was truly something special. The real interactions. Us starting to see the complexity of the depth of each character. Tina’s growth to change, Marcus’ ambition, Syd’s leadership shining through. Even the Beef itself changed, starting to abandon the piss colored filter and seeing the team warm up to each other. Things in the first episodes start to blossom here, and will continue to grow. Also, Uncle’s dream about Carmy’s dad really shows itself in Season 3. Brace yourself for the ride til then. Loving your journey watching this show.

I just love Oliver Platt. He is good in everything. As a few others said Pete is a genuine and nice guy which they are so unused to. Must be something wrong with him. It shows how positive reinforcement helps. The place is no toxic and no one cares, just get the food out. Now you have people saying we can do better and you can do it.

I always wait in anticipation for the moment in Dogs where people to go from absolutely hating Tina’s guts to falling in love with her. it only works because of Liza Colón-Zayas’ phenomenal acting. also: they hate Pete because he’s well-adjusted and a genuinely nice guy. they don’t know how to cope with anyone like him because they’re all the complete opposite of that. I can’t wait to see you dig even more into this phenomenal show. I just finished Season 3 and you’re in for a freaking treat! ❤

I think Tina is very insecure, and covers it with aggression. Once she realized that she was safe, she was able to relax and be herself. That was me when I was younger lol, "shouting at the world because no one was listening" (bonus points if you get the quote).

Their problem with Pete is that he's just a genuinely good dude. This is a loud, shouty, sweary family that pisses each other off and Pete just stands there being a kind person and absorbing all the shit they fling at each other.

As a Chicagoan, I understand why they don’t like Pete. I assume it translates to other cities as well. But the impression I get is that Pete is not from Chicago the way the other characters are. He’s probably either from the suburbs or a north sider or from a more upper class status. We aren’t always the nicest to those kinds of people, even when someone is a genuinely good person like Pete. I have cousins from the suburbs. Some are like Pete and some are assholes. But in both cases, you just can’t relate to them, they’re not really from Chicago and for some dumb reason we hate that. Especially when they still claim they’re from Chicago. I could be wrong.

They hate pete because he's just a normal, well-adjusted guy, and the berzatto family doesn't understand how to process a person like that. Also cicero was telling carm about a dream he had, not that carm's dad went flying out a windshield. I'm pretty sure the long version is that carm and michael's dad killed himself. and no i'm not going to be a childish little baby and say "unalived".
