CoasterFanatics hey Patrick --- it's now April of 2018 ,kings island just had opening day , I noticed some shrubs , a few trees ,and the trampoline jump over in Coney mall missing , between the old dinosaur alive and the stunt coaster , if you come out of the stunt coaster station and do a 180 degree turn ,you have a (maybe) a pre clearing for a lift hill right smack in the park ,I now ridership for that ride is way down , there has been talk about it's removal . What do you think ?????? Look at a satellite veiw

The Beast? They're never going to remove it, not as long as it continues to hold the world record as World's Longest Wooden Roller Coaster. It's also the only 'in house' built roller coaster in the entire park, and it's record has stood since 1979. It's recognized as a coaster classic, so to think they would ever remove it is silly. They're more likely to remove Vortex than The Beast

The worst part about this ride is how long you have to wait until you get to the top of the first hill! The anxiety is terrible lol! But thats just part of The Beast experience haha

lol, It is part of the experience and it's also done for safety. The chain won't speed up until the other train has cleared the second lift hill. This is to avoid any chance or a collision.

What's even scarier than that...being alone on the train during a night ride. Done it several times when I worked at KI back in high school. My buddy back then and I would go there shortly after close for night rides and take turns operating it for each other. It was best to take the very back seat. There was something so eerie about riding it in the dark while seeing a completely empty train in front of you. It also gave you a creepy feeling that someone or something was behind you during the second lift hill, and if you were operating the ride and feeling evil that night you could cut the power and stall the train on the second lift hill for a few seconds if you timed it right, but back then they didn't have cameras that showed where the train was on the track at any given time, and you had to time that fake stall.

I rode it only its opening month- it was cool because we didn’t know anything about it; you couldn’t see it before you got on. We all had no clue. The biggest coaster we’d ever been on was the Racer-and we thought that was big and wild. I remember during that first year they had that first turn around out of the gate was a pond. And I think they connected two of the tunnels in back maybe?

I rode this coaster back when it first opened. Back then, the only light was a single light right over top of the tunnel entrance which basically blinded you from seeing the opening until you were right on it. Best wooden coaster in my. mind as well.

I've rode The Beast at night somewhere around 50 times the past three seasons due to slow nights of Halloween Haunt occasionally and it just doesn't get old. I know the layout by heart but it still surprises me every time. The craziest Beast experience I've had was being bundled up, riding it in the cold pouring rain at night- intense just doesn't even begin to describe it! :) I'm with you my friend this is THE BEST woodie out there, while there is many great ones out there they all can't compare to The Beast

Steel vengeance is pretty good, but it has nothing on the pure nostalgia and simplicity of the beast, which just has a good overall ride experience. Sure, the elements are pretty simplistic by modern standards, but the thrill of going at high speed through the woods at night on an old rickety train will never be matched by any modern coaster.

I rode this when it was first opened at Kings Island back in 79. I waited 3 hours in line for my first ever ride. I barely met the height requirement back then. I've ridden it many times over the decades and it never gets old. The first time I rode it at night was back in the early 90s. It was intense. Although I know the layout by heart the night ride still scares the heck out of me. Still the best wooden coaster there is.

Night riding the Beast is inexplicable. The drop into the helix, the cool air in the woods, the inability to use sight to get your bearings. It's wild man, probably one of the best coaster experiences in the world. You really have to ride it to know what all the damn rave is about.

The ambiance of riding this great roller coaster at night in the mid 80's was unforgettable. Back then they used to serve beer out of concession stand build along the line and the drinking age was 18. They'd play loud rock music and the crowd was lit in more ways than one. You were guaranteed to witness at least one girl fight in the line and by the time you got to the ride everyone was on 10! Once you were seated it was a virtual party train! Good times. I also rode it in the dark in the rain. BEST RIDE EVER. I can't tolerate heights anymore so thanks for posting this video. It's the closest I'll ever get to riding this magnificent Beast again.

The Beast is just about the perfect night coaster ride, especially with a full moon. The blinding spotlights on the 1st lift hill, and the eyeshine of the animals in the woods staring at you on the 2nd lift hill just make it that much more intense.

When I went to Kings Island last month, I was really looking forward to riding The Beast. I had high expectations for it given the hype but I was also so afraid that it wasn't going to live up to the hype. Watching the POVs on KZbin, it just really didn't look that exciting with all of the trims and the type of ride that it is. Boy was I WRONG! This is an awesome classic coaster that is so different from anything else I've ridden! It feels much faster when you're on the ride and the name is so fitting. It was also smoother than I was expecting it to be, I rode in both the front and back and loved it. I like how the park added all of the facts about the ride in the que line for it's 40th year and the station is just so cool with it looking so dilapidated. What would make this coaster that much better, is if they added some sound effects when you're going up the lift hill such as some deep breathing and growling (like the original commercial for it had back in 1979), followed by a big roar before you go down the drop! That would just be so awesome and some sort of animatronic Beast or projection in one of the tunnels would be super cool.

It was Spring of 1988 and my eighth grade class had our graduation day at Kings Island. It was a small private school called Bethany in Glendale, OH. Our whole graduating class was 16 of us, again small. It had rained all day putting a real damper on things. The park cleared out towards early evening. It was just before dark when Mother Nature smiled down on what few people were left in the park and turned the rain off. 12 of us made our way to the Beast. We walked through the turnstiles and straight up to the loading gates. The workers were surprised to see our small group show up as they said they were contemplating shutting the Beast down for the night. It had been an hour since it had last ran. My class were the only ones to strap into this menacing thrill ride and head off into the darkness. Upon returning to the loading station we noticed not a soul was waiting to embark. It was a young worker running the controls. He asked if we all wanted to stay on for another ride. Silly question, we all shouted YES!!! We rode it 12 times in a row until the ride shut down for the evening. Only pausing once to let a young high school aged couple jump on with us. After spending most of the day in the restaurants gift shops out if the doom and gloom of the day it ended being the best finish to any day I ever had at Kings Island.

Just got to finally ride The Beast for my first time yesterday. First ride of the day and last ride at night. It’s awesome at day time but becomes a completely different animal at night. Maybe the best coaster ride I’ve ever had. They shut the ride down for the fireworks show at 9:30pm. It added an extra hour of extra of wait time and the night ride was still worth it! Used to love coasters and Beast was my favorite, but I blacked out on top thrill when I was like 11 and I've been scared ever since. Definitely my favorite roller coaster of all time , I road it many times back in the middle 80s , on up to the early 90s , not a better coaster in my eye. I remember those summer days and nights waiting in line to ride it. Sometimes it was a 3 hour wait , but it was definitely worth the wait. I was a teenager back then. And to top it off K.I added heavy fog throughout the layout which added an extra little touch, and quite honestly scared the hell out of me. Rode The Beast at night the year it opened as a kid. We waited in line for hours. A thunderstorm blew in and they announced they were thinking of closing down because of lightening. People refused to leave, so they ran two trains and we got a ride. Ever rode a motorcycle at highway speed in the rain? In complete darkness? It was an experience!!! Especially back then...

Today me and my fiancée got in line and was in line for over an hour. Due to technical delays, they were having problems. Had to run a few times each coaster train. 3/4 of people infront of us left like because they figured it was getting to be 8:40 and they wasn’t running, so they wasn’t going to! Waited an hour for the best ride, especially since the partial retrack. Was the best and added an extra thrill having to wait due to technical delays. Knew it was nothing but made it all the better to wait for it.

Fear of heights only lasts that first hill. Not too bad. Sit in the middle cars. That first hill on Orion is much worse for the fear of heights.

Though this doesn't have a great layout, the overall sensation of being alone in the forest, especially at night (LROTNOB is the best tho) is amazing! It feels like a horror movie where you are running alone in he forest. To be honest, before I rode this I had low expectations, but the night ride in this is the best ever!

Absolutely. It's a great day ride too and it isn't super intense. I recommend sitting in the front row for the smoothest ride.

Ok first of all that’s not correct. The first drop is 141 feet and the second one is 135 feet. That’s what the employee who worked the beast told me when I rode it.
