The sea is big, but the only new animals discovered are tiny, or live in the deep, deep oceans, where no mammal, hardly any vertebrate, can survive. An aquatic ape, if it would evolve in the first place, would have short legs for flippers, like seals, not a tail. And they would be shallow-water, coastal species, again like seals and most cetaceans. If they existed, they would have been found a long time ago.

a subspecies of human highly adapted for the water could exist, the adaptations all seem to be lost if they ever existed. But if you turn your attention to the Moken people the children can see extraordinarily well under water thanks to abnormally developed muscles in their eye sockets which allow them to slightly change the shape of their eyeball. It is believed that this ability could be trained into any child, suggesting that humans might be or have at some point been a semi-aquatic species.
@MoonChickenProductions

Well, ostensibly all land based animals were once water based, but I get your point. Considering creatures such as whales and dolphins are terrestrial creatures who returned to the ocean, it really isn't surprising to see such adaptations appearing in human beings who spend a lot of time in the ocean.
@nicholaslienandjaja1815

@@MoonChickenProductions The same adaptation can also be applied to seals, walruses, dugongs, plesiosaurs, ichthyosaurs, and mosasaurs. Sea turtles, crocodiles, otters, hippos, and penguins also possess the same adaptation, even if they are amphibious and require to breed on land.

I really like the quality and detail of your content. It's too bad that your viewership isn't larger yet, but it seems to me that you're taking things in the right direction overall. One criticism I would have of this video, however, is that the amount of nudity in it decreases the amount of mainstream appeal that it can have, making it harder to share with others. Obviously, sexuality comes with the territory of this creature, so it's not entirely avoidable and comes down to your preferences on how you want to run the channel.

Thank you for your comment and interest in the channel, it is much appreciated. Regarding your critique, we would certainly agree that there is a bit too much of it in this video, but as you said it is unavoidable. The main issue comes from the fact we are presently limited to license free images which significantly reduces the pool of visual content available to us. There is a surprising amount of none nude mermaid content on the internet but all are simply out of our current reach. With any luck the channel may grow to the point where we can afford artists more consistently, in fact this video does feature some more custom images than usual but alas its not enough to be visually entertaining for very long. Nevertheless thank you for your understanding in this matter, we greatly appreciate your support.

Interesting to hear the licensing angle of things. I hadn't thought of that, and it makes a lot of sense. I suspected that you had thought much if not all of this through already, and I think there is definitely an audience which is not too sensitive to appreciate your content even within its current restrictions. Cheers, and thanks again for your content.

If you want a realistic view on what mermaids might look like, go watch the show Primeval. In one of the episodes, the main characters encounter aquatic beasts from a future timeline called Mer-Creatures that possess primate-like faces as well as back flippers (positioned just like a mermaid's tail) similar to seals and walruses. Just like their mythical counterparts, Mer-Creatures also "sing" as part of their communication. Mer-Creatures mainly eat fish, but they have been shown to hunt human prey. Nick Cutter even theorized that the Mer-Creatures could have evolved from humans.

Another criticism of this clip:- Nowhere in the legends of King Arthur MacAedain Pendragon has there ever been any mention that the fabled "Lady Of The Lake" was a mermaid - faerie myths, movie embellishments and aquatic interpretations regardless. Indeed, she was NOT a mermaid, but instead a human woman of royal pedigree directly descended from Jesus through no less than two lineages (Sarah and Josephes). Her name was Viviane I De L'Acqs. She was the "Lady Of The Lake", not the "Lady In The Lake", this title being derived from what is usually taken to be her family name. She was the mother of Ygerna (Igraine) De L'Acqs (Du Lac), who was the third and last wife of Arthur's father, King Aedan MacGabrain, Ri Na Dalriada; and mother of Arthur. Therefore Viviane I was Arthur's maternal grandmother, while Viviane II De L'Acqs was his aunt and Morgana was his half-sister by a different father, Llew Gwyr. The kingdom of Camelot was located just south of Dalriada on the southwest Scottish coast, yet people seem to think it was somewhere in England and no, he was NOT a King of England and did NOT unite it under a single crown. At that time in history circa 600 AD, there were dozens of major kingdoms and hundreds of minor kingdoms throughout the British Isles. The closest it ever got to single rule was under the iron fist of Rome between 43 and 410 AD, two to five centuries before. After Roman rule, it was mainly fragmented until many centuries later - England, Wales and Scotland weren't united until James VI became James I of England and Ireland didn't become part of the UK until William of Orange invaded it. Arthur's kingdom in its time was a very minor one and probably subsidiary to Dalriada, which for at least part of its history, was in turn subsidiary to the Irish High Kings from whom Aedan MacGabrain descended. The legend has it that Arthur spent a long time on expedition in search of the Holy Grail. This may have been true, but the irony is that he, himself, by virtue of his own genealogy, was of the Holy Grail - the Sainted Grail, the Sang Real, the Blood Royal, from his maternal lineage and suggests that he and those bards who wrote and sang about him had no idea what the Grail really was (or simply didn't dare to buck the Church of Rome's power by telling the truth of it). After all, heresy carried the same penalty as witchcraft. Barbecues were very fashionable in those days, but it wasn't fun for the guests of honour at those parties. The original "Cup" was not a divine chalice with magical powers. It was Mary Magdalene and the progeny of herself and Jesus were the Grail itself - the Royal Blood - that which the "Cup" carried and gave birth to. Some 600 years later (approximately), the Church decided to put an end once and for all to the Messianic teachings of Mary Magdalene's Church Of The Nazarene with a bloody 20-year-long slaughter called the Albigensian Crusade, one culmination of its campaign to consolidate power throughout Europe and wipe the slate of the persistent belief that Jesus actually did have children. Another century later, the second culmination of the campaign was elimination of the Knights Templar, who were more Nazarene Christian than Roman Christian and whose power and wealth had become too great a threat to the Church and its control over the kings of Europe to tolerate any longer. Good luck with your projects!

I am once more impressed. You are in possession of a very particular and, might I say, peculiar body of knowledge. It leaves me wondering how it is that you came to know all of this? I thought you might have been shown your entire hand with the first comment but alas it seems you are quite the wellspring of information. This all gives me an idea for future content but I have other projects to finish for now. However to your main point you are generally correct. The Lady of the Lake isn't truly a mermaid however during my research for this I found a few mentions of her being considered a mermaid in various fictitious stories; particularly in Irish fantasy novels, so I thought it would be remise of me not to at least mention it in passing. However this makes comments like yours all the more valuable, so that curious or confused viewers might come across them and be better informed than with what I can manage in m lone 15 minute video. Again thank you for watching and taking the time to leave such a robust comment. See you around in the future!

Well, thanks for the compliments. In answer to your questions, there have been no miracles in the acquistion of this "knowledge" or "theory" as the case may be. Suffice it to say that whatever captures my curiosity usually engages my attempts to research it, eventually - though any one thing is usually also found to be one of many on a bucket list. I do seem to have a knack for finding answers to those questions my mind has a habit of asking, however. This, I attribute to what Tony Robbins calls "The Law Of Attraction". It is a quantum reality phenomenon best understood in terms of DNA being the crucible of Consciousness, per Lynne McTaggart's "The Intention Experiment" and the work of Russian scientist Dr Piotr (Peter) Gariaev (Garjarev) and his colleagues, such that said answers often fly straight out of "left field" and drop right into my lap in the strangest of ways. At least, it appears so to someone who has not also researched and come to understand the phenomenon of DNA as a scalar wave transmitter and receiver, to at least some fair degree. Another facet of my ability is a talent deriving from being a "dual hemispheric" - that is, one who uses both hemispheres of the brain, if you accept that rationale as a way of explaining the combining of pure analytical logic with wild-minded creativity. It means that I am frequently found to bridge the gulfs between diverse and seemingly unrelated fields of knowledge or expertise, so that new concepts are sometimes generated. I make conceptual leaps from time to time. Actually, my particular fields of expertise (once again, seemingly disparate and unrelated fields) are natural medicine (principally cancer and some other "intractable" diseases), fluid dynamics (subsonic flow systems) and personality typology (Jung-Myers-Briggs). Yes, I suppose your mentioning the notion that Viviane De L'Acqs was a mermaid as it has been portrayed in some fantasy stories was legitimate, since that was the general theme of your approach - what has been written about it which survives to the present day, much of which comes from Gaelic legend. The Irish origin of those legends is something I see as not being merely coincidental, however. You see, Llew Gwyr was Welsh (Brythonic), therefore Gaelic and there is an historic link between the bloodline of Jesus and Mary Magdalene with Gaelic ancestors, including this character. Jesus and Mary had in-laws who were Welsh Druidic giants (both sorcerers, one grandson of the other) of this persuasion - Lleifer Beni Mawr and Bran The Blessed. Take that just a little further and you discover the several links involved also extend much farther back in time to include the Tuatha De Danann, who were early inhabitants of Ireland before those we call Gaelic (the Milesian kings). Some of their ancestry throws back to the Scythian kings descended from Noah's son Japheth, in common with the Milesian kings (Gaelic) but some throws back to an unknown ancestry and I have theorised it to be more directly from the Anunnaki - most probably Lilith and Adam I or Lord Enki - I postulate similar origins of Odin Borrsson's bloodline. The Tuatha De Danann were demi-gods. When Christianity came to Ireland, the Church called them "Faerie" and naturally enough did its utmost to divest them of their godly status. Now of course, "Faerie" conjures images of little people with magical powers and the like, but in fact, they were mighty people of large stature at around 9 feet tall (males) and were very long-lived, Demne Fionn MacCumhaill for example is thought to have lived about 2,000 years. They practiced sorcery and had other highly developed skills and arts much the same as the bloodline of Cain, but you must understand that this was Science cloaked in mystery and mumbo-jumbo by the ignorant, the superstitious and especially by the Church, which itself wanted people to be ignorant and superstitious so it would hold easy sway of power over them. The Tuatha De Dananns' nature was entirely consistent with the Angels/Heroes of the Anunnaki, or human-angel hybrids, or human-Anunnaki hybrids and such people were not unique to the British Isles. They were in parts of Europe and Scandinavia also until as recently as 700 AD - the Viking God Odin Borrsson was one of these and he, too, was a giant and a sorcerer (a "Frost Giant") who lived a rather long time of about 1,000 years. He was a powerful king, which is why he was able to resist the power of the Church of Rome for so long. Curiously, though, Odin was not the good fatherly god as the mythology portrayed him. Instead he was viciously evil and ruthless - a cold-blooded, merciless killer. The Tuatha De Danann date back to long before Jesus and Mary, at least 5,000 years and perhaps as many as 12,000 years in the British Isles, possibly before the end of the last Ice Age and long before the Great Flood. You also read of these beings in the Bible's books of Genesis and Numbers - there were at least 22 tribes in the Middle East around the Dead Sea, which included the Hittites, Canaanites, Moabites and the inhabitants of Sodom & Gomorrah. There were many others - Goliath, Shernihaza, Melchizedek, Gilgamesh, Nimrod, Noah and his sons and yes, even "Adam II" and "Eve II", who were in fact human-Anunnaki hybrids, while their ancestral predecessors "Adam I" and "Eve I" were genetically modified hybrids of an early hominid such as Homo Heidelbergensis or Homo Rhodesiensis with genome spliced into them from one of the Anunnaki god-kings, Lord Enki, himself. Those prototype modern humans were gestated by one of Enki's consorts as a surrogate mother, were deliberately engineered to be of more or less normal human stature and short lifespans of up to 120 years, whereas Adam II and Eve II were his direct offspring by two different prototype human mothers, therefore tall and long-lived. According to the ancient Sumerian tablets (Book of Lord Enki) Adam II lived 12.5 Shars, which is about 45,000 years, as opposed to his biblical age of about 900. Bear in mind that another set of Sumerian tablets counted 8 Anunnaki kingships in Sumer alone, some of which spanned as many as 48,000 years and in total date back around 250,000 years, while Enki himself, with 50 Heroes, arrived on Earth about 450,000 years ago and still appears to have been around on Earth as late as 200 BC. Thus, upon accepting such revelations, one needs no longer wonder at the long lifespans enjoyed by many of the ancients from the time of Adam II, until those bloodlines eventually became too diluted by interbreeding with people of the prototype human genome. The pure-bred Anunnaki god-kings, though flesh-and-blood mortals, had lifespans far exceeding a million years, as unbelieveable as that may sound. One could speculate that their genetic technology may have allowed them to perfect their own genome over millions of years and it also accounts for the way they were able to freely inbreed with their own mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters, and even great-great-great grandchildren generation after generation without fear of producing defective children. And they did. This incestuous behaviour perpetuated in royal human bloodlines for millennia, especially the Pharaohs, for they, as descendants of the Gods, thought they would also be impervious to genetic flaws and actually saw themselves as gods. The Merpeople, if you accept the Anunnaki creation theory, would have been the last of the Anunnaki genetic engineering projects and the most difficult to accomplish, because they would have had marine mammal genome spliced into them from cetaceans to give them sonar, the manatee-like spade tail, collapsible ribcages, low temperature tolerance and either able to hold their breath submerged for up to an hour, or additionally equipped with gills inside a water bladder to share space with the collapsible lungs. Hell, there may even have been different experimental prototypes of this race - subraces, if you will. One thing is almost certain. Evolution simply cannot account adequately for the existence of so many hominid races on land as there are known to have been and there has been information leaked from somewhere that humans possess one particular chromosome pair that is actually spliced from two, thus giving us 23 pairs instead of the 24 pairs found in our relatives, the Great Apes. That spliced chromosome is simply not natural. It absolutely cannot be. Then when it comes to Merpeople, any official provenance of their existence will again demonstrate genetic engineering, because such natural evolution is quite impossible.

I'm pretty sure if mermaids and mermen are real, they won't look as beautiful as popular depictions in fairy tales. myths, and legends at all. They might look creepy and gross due to looking like fish (think Lovecraft's Deep Ones or the Creature from the Black Lagoon), or they might look unnerving due to looking too human (ever heard of the uncanny valley? That's what would happen if something looks too human despite not being human at all).

@MoonChickenProductions

I have been doing a bit of research on neuroscience lately. Specifically on the cognitive differences between males and females. An interesting point is that while both young girls and boys both process emotion in the thalamus, as girls grow up this processing is more and more conducted in the neocortex and parietial lobe. However, boys continue to process emotions in the thalamus for the rest of their lives. This in part explains why women are far more adept at communicating emotions and are more eager to do so since the parts of their brain that are capable of abstract communication are also the same places that experience emotion. I assert that this is also part of the reason why women are sexually aroused more often through abstract romantic gestures and have a strong psychological component to their sexuality, while men are just turned on by simply seeing generative organs. With this difference in processing in mind, I don't think its much of a stretch to say that a mermaids song would not affect women as they would be able to directly engage cognitively with the emotional manipulation implied in the myth of the sirens song. this would then allow them to ignore it more outright. However all men, as well as young girls would not be able to resist this song. Another thing to consider is that girls are more responsive to sounds than boys. in a 1991 study, groups of premature children were sung to, and the effects on their hospital stay was measured. while boys had no response to the singing, girls on the other hand were released 9 to 12 days earlier than their counterparts who did not receive and singing. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10160836 (sorry you do have to pay for this research) This means that women are biologically pre-wired to be more responsive to music than boys. What this means for the sirens myth is difficult to say. But if we squint and tilt our heads to the side we can probably say they might be better at ignoring the song.

The high probability that Merpeople were human hybrid creations engineered by the Anunnaki, as were humans themselves and many other hominid races, is not even mentioned in this commentary, far less considered. The Dugong/Manatee theory is total crap and not worth entertaining seriously for an instant. Suppose for a moment that the Anunnaki theory just might be true, or at least possible. It might it in turn give some credibility to other mythical creatures, such as centaurs. However, if one is to entertain the legitimacy of the Anunnaki creation theory, one must be able to postulate a logical reason why the Anunnaki would have troubled to create a marine humanoid species. Such a difficult genetic engineering enterprise could not have been undertaken for no good reason. Why would they do such a supposedly outlandish thing? Consider then, what was the singular priority of the Anunnaki - why were they here on Earth? The answer to that question is clearly known - GOLD, with which to create its exotic, electronically condensed, non-metallic counterpart, known as Mfkzt, Manna or the Philosopher's Stone. This, they intended to sublimate into the atmosphere of their home planet. That much is clearly stated in the 14 ancient cuneiform tablets known as the Book Of Lord Enki, just as it is also clearly stated that they created Mankind to serve as slaves in the gold mines in replacement of the Angels/Heroes and also as servants. It begs the question, "Well, what if they also wanted to mine gold from the seabed?" The logical extension of this thinking leads to the possible creation of Merpeople. Ah, but on land, the Anunnaki used Guardian Angels to train and control the humans. That would hardly be possible in the case of a marine humanoid population, so how, then, would they secure the labours of Merpeople to provide gold from the sea? Once again, there is a plausible answer. Note the geographical origin of the humble, but biologically potent and highly addictive Opium Poppy, Papaver Somnifera. Yes, it originates from the same middle eastern region as the Anunnaki's central seat of power - Mesopotamia. Coincidence? I hardly think so. Imagine then, that opium could have been used to enslave the Merpeople to a barter system - train them to mine gold and trade it in exchange for opium. Given that until the Great Flood caused its fragmentation, the Anunnaki maintained a global maritime trading network known as Atlantis, It collected gold mined from all parts of Earth and brought it to Mesopotamia, There is no reason to ignore the likelihood of Atlantis doing the same collection from pods of Merpeople. Once brought to Mesopotamia, it would be lifted off-planet via the Anunnaki waystation on Mars to Nibiru during those periods when Nibiru was near enough to Mars and Earth. Now of course, most people would regard all this as a flight of fancy. Sometime in the future, the theory should be proven right or wrong, but in the meantime, all that bullshit about dugongs or manatees just doesn't stand up to critical scrutiny. Remember that mariners often told tales of giant squid - the Kraken. Naysayers scoffed at the very idea of the existence of such an enormous sea creature and rationalised it all away as the ravings of delirious or demented sailors drunk on mead or rum. Yet in the 1970s, the Kraken's true existence was conclusively proven with the capture of a 120-foot-long specimen and a smaller 40-footer in Bass Strait by a fishing trawler. Truth often is stranger than fiction!

Thank you for your comment. it was a very interesting and intricately thought out narrative for what might have brought about the mermaid. And is indeed something we had not encountered before, so thank you for sharing it here where more people can enjoy it. We are quite surprised at the detail of thought that you put into this into this explanation so thank you so much for the effort and time it took to write your comment. To be clear though we are skeptical of the manatee origin as well but barring any hard physical evidence otherwise we do have to accept it for the sake of our video. Indeed we do address this in part as the manatee and its ilk are decidedly non-human in appearance and hence our stretching of perception to such extremes as to consider a murky silhouette as the primary origin. We didn't necessarily want to rely on these creatures for our explanation but as mentioned nothing else availed itself while we were writing the script. However we are sure you'll be happy to know that we do mention otherworldly creators in our upcoming Centaur video. Though not with as much detail as you have presented here, it is not a thought that we are unwilling to entertain, at least in part. So thank you again for your comment and we hope to see you in the comments of our future videos!

If the Annunaki had the ability to painstakingly genetically engineer so many different types of people, wouldn’t they also have the tech to get the gold themselves? It seems more effort than it’s worth.

You sir are indeed well educated. School educated. However this is your downfall, science still can’t explain how humans are naturally bonded with whales and dolphins. Considered protectors of the ocean. This is because they have been living with humanoid beings in the ocean since the beginning of time. There are stories from every continent in the world. There are pre biblical drawings on cave walls in nearly all coastal countries. Explain these. You Sir are mistaken.

True, way too much of the ocean is still unexplored by people, but if mermaids or something very similar to mermaids does exist I doubt theyd be pretty lol. Disneyfied 'little mermaid" & all that hollywood crap like splash & aquamarine is jus for entertainment purposes lol. "Mermaids" in reality most likely wouldn't be like that & most likely wouldn't always be nice & they'd probably look scary honestly lol. If mermaids do exist,theyd probably most likely look very close to how theyre portrayed on Mermaids The Body Found, or that freeform channel show Siren(I doubt they could walk on land but who knows). But all this disneyfied hollywood crap is ridiculous lol. 💙🐳🐬🐟🐙🐚🦀🌊⛵💙

Indeed. From the point of realism, the Disney mermaid is certainly very silly. However, as I'm sure you know, the point of the Disney stories etc is to make the creature sympathetic for narrative purposes. Now, it is certainly possible for us to sympathies with hideous monsters, but they are also going for a particular asthetic, one that is aimed at children. And, trust me, having worked with children a lot myself, they can sometimes be scared by the strangest of things. So with that goal in mind, having a scary monster protagonist was kinda inevitable in a lot of the Disney story. As for things like Splash, well... that was wish fulfillment and no one wants to be ugly.

I could see the Dolphin as a possible progenitor of the Mermaid, since they do communicate vocally, have slender, streamlined bodies, and do interact with humans.

P.T. Barnum in 1865, had posters sent out, regarding his new show. The show included a REAL MERMAID, encased in glass. Not sure if it was alive or dead. There are posters on the internet...there is also a photograph of this creature, I am not sure who took it. The P.T. Barnum Museum in July 15, 1865, completely burned down. I believe this whales, also died. I truly believe, someone purposely burned the museum, to hide this mermaid's existence. Please research "P.T. Barnum real mermaid." This is the real deal, not the Fiji fake display, and not pretty like the Walt Disney's version. It will blow your mind sir. This would be a great part 2, to this video.

in all of the myths... no. Women usually save the men around them from from mermaids. However I imagine it wouldnt be impossible. What if the woman were homosexual, for example? would she be effected. I guess we just have to use our imagination.
