'Griffins' exist today, in the real world, in a distinct part of the world. It is a solvable riddle, when using etymology and a little historical knowledge. Putting all the clues together it becomes pretty inescapable what the 'Griffin' was based upon. Although one major thing to bear in mind is that 'Griffins' don't actually fly, and they don't really have wings. They are indeed not even carnivorous. All these factors seem to be assumptions made of the beast during the establishment and embellishment of it's mythology based on the fore-parts being those 'of an eagle' (a flying carnivorous beast). See if you can REALLY suss it out!

eugenics programs dont neet to be "unethical" it could be done simply by not giving child support to people who are unfit and giving state sponsored support to people who are fit...not need to castrate and such things
@MoonChickenProductions
@MoonChickenProductions 8 ай бұрын
That is an idea. I hasten to say that we must remember that this is not an excersise in how eugenics might be done morally. But I would like to point out that somehow knowing who is "fit" to have children and who is not fit, is entirely subjective. I dont think that any person, or any group of people, could make completely just decisions in this case. Certainly there will be clear cut and obviuous instances where people are either "fit" or "unfit", but I think you will find that the majority of people will exsist in the grey boarderline area... which is where the issues will arise. Furthermore, I am African. Typically there is no state assistance with anything. And If there is assistance, it is minimal... and I like it that way. That being said, I can speak from personal anecdotal experience that state assistance, or the lack thereof does not have any major impact on the population. it only seems to improve or, at least, alter material conditions of those people in the country, even when it comes to children. As a final thought. Typical eugenics programs seek to have rappid turnaround for the outcomes. Simply offering certain groups money, and other groups nothing will, I feel, be too slow to satisfy the kinds of people that would do something like this.

The animal that perhaps best works as a modern day analogue to the Illithid is the Parasitic Wasp, since they immobilise their prey and inject an egg into them. Said egg hatches inside the host and devours them from the inside out before emerging to repeat the cycle. Much in the way Illithids implant a parasite into a Humanoid host that eventually takes over them and morphs their body into an Illithid one. There's a reason Parasitic Wasps were one of the inspirations for the Xenomorph from the Alien franchise.
@MoonChickenProductions
@MoonChickenProductions 8 ай бұрын
Actually, I did consider this. In fact, it was very tempting to invoke the parasitic wasps as well as the xenomorph. Of course, in the interest of exercising creativity, I felt I should try to limit my focus. I'm not sure if it came across, but I was quite surprised by the relatively new information that cordyceps appears to directly control the body of its victims, and I wanted to focus on that idea and maybe play on the idea that the fungus could be considered a sorta pseudo-ant. But the way the script panned out didn't really give me a chance to do that. Incidentally, I believe that there is reason to believe that the jeweled wasp actually produces viruses in order to aid its reproduction. However, this is only a half remembered bit of info, and I may be wrong. Anyway, I think I will spend some time in another live stream going over some of these ideas. Try to see if you can make it.

It's funny how many spellings of "Gryphon" exist. Gryphon. Griffon. Griffin. And now I know of a 4th. Grippon.

You know, that actually made the origional video really difficut. So many spellings. Usually I make the subtitles at the end of a video creations session and my tired eyes missed inconsistencies in the spelling of this creatures name so often. That being said I will change the title.

Arguing over a mythological story that has a hundred variations is a fool’s errand. Every version is the equally “true” story. Don’t get so hung up on someone accounting their personal favorite one.

The comment below mine is one variation of the myth. Another follows the same begining, Poseidon being rejected by Medusa because she promised her virginity to Athena, Athena seeing this as it happened in her temple. Only this sees the transformation as a blessing, Athena's way of protecting Medusa so that no one would ever harm her again, those who layed their eyes on her would not long for her beauty but turn to stone before they could think to harm her.
@DarrenIreland-e3w

No the real story is worse.. she was a priestess of Athena but she wasn't vain, she was raped by Poseidon in the temple which is a great disrespect but also as a priestess of athena she needed to be a virgin .. these things all together forced Athena to punish Medusa by turning her into a Gorgon.
@ReiXiu448

The version I learnt was Poseidon really didn't like Athena because he lost in that contest to become the patron of Athens.So that why she got raped as revenge 😢.

Awesome return to form, MC! I especially found your attempts to Reify Medusa interesting. An idea I had that's inspired by your use of an adaptation of the Horned Lizard could be that the 'petrification' Medusa's gaze is legendary for, could have another explanation. Like Medusa may have a potent form of 'Infrasound' which immobilises her prey, based on the concept that some Big Cat species use Infrasound to paralyse their prey, even Humans are susceptible to the effects of Infrasound even if we cannot hear it. Many accounts of people being stalked by Big Cats (or simply being in the same vicinity as them) report of an inexpicable sense of dread or unease, caused by the imperceptible Infrasound those telling their story were exposed to. So by this method Medusa may 'petrify' her victims through Infrasound, but since we Humans cannot hear it, we instead attribute the effect to her piercing gaze. Our bodies feeling as immobile and unyielding as stone when we look into Medusa's eyes, with few surviving to tell the tale, but some may see their friends paralysed by Medusa's "gaze" and thus attribute the effect to that.

@@MoonChickenProductions It's just really amazing you're producing content again. By the way you might remember me as 'GreatSaiyaKirby' back in the day. I was part of your Tulpa collaboration project and you highlighted some of my comments on your Bestiary videos in your Cod-Pasts. Like how I theorised much of the demonisation of spiritual women as Witches throughout history and culture ties into the judeo-christian faith that dominated Europe for much of the Middle Ages, religions that place women in a subservient role to men and treat them having power as a threat. I've seen rebranded my channel and I now produce content focussed on Zoids. Those old Dinosaur/Animal model kits from the 80's (also known as Robostrux in the US). If you ever do any collaboration videos like the Tulpa one again I'd be happy to contribute like I did with my "Atzoatl" entry.

Breathtaking and heartwarming. If such a creature exists, or used to exist, what was its purpose? My guess would be that Jesus would have been one of the incarnation's or versions of/ examples of the phoenix. 😮
