This is the Cyrusher Ovia - an Ebike that's been limited to 250w - We've already seen the first impressions of the Cyrusher Ovia electric bike whilst limited but we headed back to Birmingham Alabama to test the ebike unlocked. So with the full 750w Bafang motor powering it along, will it climb hills faster? And how fast will it go?

In the settings you can take the pedal resist up to 9, i got mine set 0-7. and that will take me to 29 MPH

I have the Cyrusher Ranger because I'm tall and fat and live in a hilly area. I need to upgrade the breaks from single piston to 4 pistons and 220 discs because I have a lot of inertia coming down the hill and it's a bit scary when you doubt you'll be able to stop. And in wet conditions which is almost always, here in Wales, my brakes whistle louder than my horn blows :)))))

That is definitely a good looking bike. And 20 mph is a decent enough speed tbh. And the torque looks to be nice as well.

Come to America, and don't worry about illegal-we have miles and miles of beautiful trails! I have the Red Ovia, which I put 4,047 miles in starting in 2023, and a new bike-a Kommoda 2.0, which I unboxed but haven't ridden because of health reasons and weather. My son did a five-minute test. It looks good. I generally ride at 15 MPH as I want to enjoy the scenery. Besides, I'm 80 years old and don't like racing!

20mph locked on the throttle is class 2 ebike spec in america. they also have class 3 where you are allowed up to 28mph IF you pedal.

Yes but that was in april with the tory government, we don't seem to be hearing any continuence from Labour albeit they've only been in 12 weeks and likely have other fish to fry, but it should appeal to any green credentials they have as electric bikes are far greener ( we wont mention the factories churning out the metal and plastic bits lol as its the same for cars etc ) than polluting cars and motorbikes, so it would make sense to make them powerful enough to manage hills of various degrees and a little more speed.. Say 20 mph with a throttle which even l as a new rider know is esssential to safely pulling away from junctions,,, side roads,, hill climbs, turning round in cramped places etc.

500w, and throttle but still limited to 15.5mph, but that was the tory government in april, not heard anymore since, at the time certain partys were protesting this saying that allowing bigger motors would open them up to more derestricting and the bikes going even faster, which is daft cos those that will deristrict them are already doing it on bikes with 750w and more motors, to get past 15.5mph, and adding throttles, but if they add throttles which give far more control at junctions, hill starts, turning circles etc, and a 500w motor to enable the bikes to climb steeper hills without giving the rider a coronary they would attract more car drivers which would mean less polluting and more room on our roads, which would help with any governments green credentials. I think, 17.5mph to 20mph would be ideal for that little quicker feeling and throttles limited to that would be fairer on the rider, many of which now are older riders like myself 67, and upwards, usually with worn out hips or knees that make a bike that can climb hills ok and have manouvrability a boon to give them independence both from being indoors and their cars, especially for short journeys of say 5 miles there n 5 back, to do a little shopping, go for a haircut, to a library,, or just a joy ride without having to find parking spaces etc. But the trouble with good logical decisions and ideas is they rarely go hand in hand with government policies. Lol When l first started riding these bikes about 6 weeks ago l thought 15mph was quite adequate, but after just a few weeks it does seem just a bit too slow, you feel hmm maybe just another 5mph would be better, l forgot what it was like to be on a fast bike which as a kid we lived for we raced at some hair raising speeds as l recall, my younger self would point at me now and shout " wimp get some speed up 😮😂" And we didnt have any safety wear apart from denim jeans n jackets or duffle coats, the brakes were dogsh1t and the tires were often worn down to ribbbon thinness, but we never gave it a thought,, despite what Tufty told us. 😂

@@AHoundOnAHonda Kommoda is £400 less. @paddy4799 yeah it's just the bigger battery, different rear suspension (not sure Kommoda is air suspension like the Ovia) and the Larger light on the Ovia. A lot of people would pay the extra for the range and other stuff but the range and looks of the Kommoda will be fine for a lot of people so they may well opt for that. There may be other differences you'd only know by trying the bike though like the controller and other electronics. Not all bikes called '750w' put out the same power.

So... by derestricting this bicycle, The bicycle's status changes from bicycle into illegal moped meaning that to stay on the legal side of things, the machine needs type testing, registering and taxing whilst the rider needs training, licensing, insuring etc. It hardly seems worthwhile.

Moving that thing without a full throttle on a mild hilltop is nearly impossible … making this bike either pretty useless or illegal. Add into the fact when anything goes wrong Cyrusher are the worst company in the world to deal with. This is the company that brought you the electric snowboard that doesn’t work on snow. Even at the discounted price they’ve reduced them to to get rid of their inventory this bike isn’t worth the hassle. Weighs too much, costs too much and the only good part of this bike is the frame. Only reason I still have mine is because nobody wants to buy it.

I didn't find hill starts too bad especially if I remembered to be in 1st gear. Still not as good as a torque sensor for hills though.

@@e-VRC try it on a hill with traffic lights and try not to kill yourself peddling into moving traffic. I’ve owned this bike for 10 months, ok on the flat without a throttle in first gear … try stopping half way up your hill climb and getting it going without a throttle.
