@Pharoset Well it certainly interesting how much more sophisticated and appealing & spacious and open Love Me do is ...and catchy, than ' some other guy' for example. (Although I love that tune) In a short 4 years later they're playing in front of like a zillion people at candlestick park. In a short 4 years later they're stopping touring altogether! That's a pretty short amount of time for most bands to go from the cavern club to a huge stadium to stop touring. Put it all makes sense, they covered a lot of ground, they were ready to stop etcetera it all makes sense but it's pretty phenomenal compared to most bands. The part about recording final song 5 years after candlestick, well, whatever. That of course makes a ton of sense

It is odd to us now, but this isn’t really their prime. That would come a couple of years later as far as the hysteria. At this point they were pretty much a local and few surrounding areas band doing covers. No one besides Epstein saw much of anything incredibly special at this point. Later on John, Paul and George stated at various times that the best they ever were as far as an actual live band were those early Hamburg Germany days in which they played in rough clubs for way too many hours and very little pay. Thats where they learned their chops and became musicians. Would really be cool to see footage of that. I doubt very many at this concert had any clue the Beatles would completely explode and become the greatest songwriting rock band of all time. We can say “John, Paul, George and Ringo” and 90% of the people on the planet will still know who you are talking about 62 yrs after this film footage was taken. But in ‘62 you could say those names and only a very small number would even know who the Beatles were but they probably couldnt even name the members and certainly not their full names. Pretty crazy to think of the Beatles as “just another band trying to make it” but that is what they were at this time pretty much.

Maybe back then their fans were there for the listening and musical experience more than the emotional one. If you can find it Bob Woolers Sept. 1961 article in MERSEYBEAT is prophetic and spot on about the UK rock scene and how even then The Beatles were separating themselves from "the carefully contrived jungle rhythms" of London.

Ah, 100 years ago, 2062…at 70 y o now it’s scary! It might seem a long time ago but a human lifetime is a blip!! I n 1965 I was in a classroom learning about the US Civil War which had ended one hundred years before, to me then it seemed to be one thousand yrs before! But yeah that will be cool in future ‘62 for a fifty-something person to say “I saw a live ex-Beatle playing live music in his fkn eighties”!! That is just crazy! Soon everyone who was alive during the time of the group will be gone! I felt what it meant to have lived it when in 1995 I was food shopping in a health-food store in Paia, Maui when suddenly before me was George Harrison!! It was a shocking, bewildering and overwhelming moment for me. The Beatles “spell” was still inside me, as me and it suddenly came to my surface like a bolt of lightning, having George there shockingly five feet in front of me! John was right about them being bigger than Jesus, there before me was A BEATLE GOD and I could not function normally! I NEVER have experienced a Jesus. Those of us who lived through and loved The Beatles, WE got THE ENERGY!! WE were blasted with the BEATLE POWER and it is (still) inside us!!

At 5 years old I watched the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show, definitely a life changing moment. Since then and till present day there have been so many amazing bands and great songs by other artists but nothing has ever come close to the Beatles. In the short time the Beatles were together they have eclipsed every single band or artists that have followed. In going forward thru history I’m certain the Beatles will be as relevant as they have always been, hundreds of years from now if our planet last that long people will still be listening to The Beatles.

My wife and I went to the “new” Cavern Club in 2015 and saw a very good local Beatles impersonators band. And we sat with “Georges” parents! They were thrilled that their son was in the “Beatles.” It was a great show - “Paul” was a very good vocalist and looked very much like Sir Paul - he even played the bass lefty. Lotsa fun.

I made up my mind to realizing Ringo was the match for a drummer. They all seemed performing at ease. All the best to Pete, life goes on, my full respect to him.
@kcampbell3045
@kcampbell3045 7 ай бұрын
Yep. They knew he was their match from the first moment Ringo sat behind them to sub for Pete. They all said that they felt the rush when he was back there that they didn't get from Pete. Pretty much every band who has invited him to record a track with them has claimed to have felt this extra gear, so it was never just the Beatles. They weren't the only band trying to get him or keep him at the time. I've studied him trying to bring some of that x-factor into my drumming but it is very hard to quantify. I think that is why a lot of people don't 'get it" right away.

This was after they'd already done hundreds of shows for two full years in Hamburg, Germany, from '60 - '62. By the time they returned to the UK, here, in '62, they were an extremely seasoned band - although Ringo had just joined them, a few days before, here, which shows just how great Ringo was in fitting in so quickly. But yeah, by the time this film was taken in '62, they had spent 2 years playing hours-long shows on amphetamines, sleeping with hookers and becoming the tightest band in the world. The whole "polite boys in sweaters and ties" thing at the Cavern, here, was extremely calculated, as they were leather-wearing, drug-taking scouses for 2 years before this. The Beatles that were introduced to the UK and the U.S. was specifially designed for mass appeal; they were hard-rocking, drug-taking nuts in reality.

@waynej2608 In My Firmest; and, Strongest Views, Sir; in the end, you are wholly; &, entirely: -->>wrong. &,...
