A childhood favorite, both from "Beatles VI" and the "Eight Days a Week" flip. Still my favorite track on both albums it appears on, a longtime favorite strum-along, and- needless to add- I've been gettin' it all wrong. Thanks for straightenin' me out, MP!

This is the song that got me learning guitar in 1988. My college roommate was a music major at Indiana University. He played this on his acoustic. And he must have played it for me hundreds of times. He finally handed me his guitar and said you learn it. I did although very poorly. This is in my top 5 maybe top 3 favorite Beatles songs. I don’t believe John wrote this as an upbeat track. I think he wrote it slow as a lament but who knows. I now fingerpick a slow version of this. Thanks Mike! You are the best! I love everything about this song. Another outstanding version as well!

My highest regards to Mike Pacelli, and of course the young Beatles , for their attention to detail. Particularly Mike's . A lifelong devotee & affectianado myself, Mike has dialed me in. Only now after 50 years can I say, thanks to Mike's help , that I can play Beatle's music very well & 'note for note'. 😅 Thank you Mike . Ronnie

The EQ boost on George's guitar is around 2k or 2,5k. In fact, I ripped the sound from your video when you played the solo and gave a 15db boost on both 2k and 2,5k and BINGO: George's typical Beatles For Sale sound as if by magic!!! Yes, I'm a bit obsessed with George's sound with the Gretsch guitar on that album, as you can see. And thank you for teaching another lovely Beatles song. I've been learning a lot! Thank you so much.

It's a long time since I learned to play this but I remember in the acoustic intro bending the F up towards the F sharp then E on the D string - sounds more 'C&W' to me - but perhaps my memory is faulty - must go and check. Love your attention to detail showing how the parts interlock 🙂

I remember playing this with my band when it came out and i was trying to play the hi-hat part in the verse as 8th notes with just my right hand. It was exhausting so i ended up playing it as triplets. When it came to the lead and the outro i just switched to the ride cymbal. The choruses, of course, were on the floor tom with a "tea towel" :) ...anyway, thanks for this lesson. Now i can try to learn John's guitar part!

I always thought this was a great song. George guitar work shows why John and Paul could never hope to do all that George was able to. George excelled at Rockabilly guitar and as a result Country as well. It might well have been a good Ringo song if he had made a version but we'll never know. John after all did a smashing job on it ultimately. Great video!

Excellent work on a Beatles gem that I also consider a country classic! Too bad Buck and Don didn't cover this one after the boys did Act Naturally. I'm struck by how similar the chord sequencing is to the contemporaneous I'm A Loser. And that's probably why, it occurs to me now, they didn't play *this* song live. You could only have one or the other of those in a half hour set in late '64-early '65.

Another great one Mike. Question - as someone who owns a lot of "Beatles" guitars, which would you say is the one to get in terms of overall musicality, playability and build quality?
@MPfrance
@MPfrance Жыл бұрын
In my humble opinion, most of the guitars the beatles used are crap. I wouldn’t advise buying any of them that are vintage. The only re-issues that are worth owning are the Japanese sonic blue stratocaster (a fabulous guitar) and the Japanese country classic. Get the strat.
@DrGerard66
@DrGerard66 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply!! I already have a perectly good strat...... so I guess that's it for the Bealtes' souvenir guitars. Although as a compromise I'm now wondering about the Rickenbacker 350V63....... it certainly *looks* the part.
