Mike , if George Martin is considered the 5 th. Beatle , You 'are certainly the 6 th. For you're what was always lacking with the Beatles - the thorough and accurate EXPLANATION of their wonderful instrumental inventions of guitar playing. There is not enough of gratitude that could be expressing how helpful you are for so many hungry souls.

This is another brilliant Beatles song, superbly analysed by Mike. To understand four instruments and how they interact is fabulous!!!

You have an amazing ear Mike to hear all those individual elements of their guitar playing. And, George's guitar solo is just bliss in its simplicity.

Mike's enthusiasm for the Beatles makes these lessons fun. Showing each part separately makes it easier to understand and gives some insight into each Beatles musical character and contribution.

I was ten years old in 1963 when I first heard the Beatles, and I have been a fen ever since. I'll Follow the Sun is one of my favourite songs by them, so much so, I'm having it played at my funeral. Many years from now!!😁😁🇬🇧

Mike , Mike , Mike , man is this a Home Run . One of my absolute Favorite Beatle songs of All Time . Your Lesson as always is Top Notch . Taught with Love and attention to detail as always . Thank You so Darn Much .

Dave Brewer, I totally agree. I find it interesting that at of all the Beatles songs, this one is what I consider --- the least taught. I don't know why, but very few teachers teach this song. It's remarkable that Paul wrote this song at 16 years of age.

I first heard this aged around 12y? I have always loved this song and always wondered how George played his part in it. I am now coming up on 68y and finally, I now know how George did it. As always Chord notes :) Thanks, Mike, for a great tutorial.....Pete

Excellent. George's parts fit so nicely into the song--restrained, yet elegant.

Another great job! This has to be in my top five Beatles songs, in large part because of the exquisite blend of Paul’s high melody and John’s lower harmony. So many great songs had the beautiful blending of these two men’s voices. Then they spoil us on other classics by rocking out and adding George’s three-part harmony. You emphasize the guitar parts, which amazes us all, but I adore the vocalizations.

Nicely done Mike. I've played the song since it came out in 1964 and have loved it's intracacies as you have notated accurately showing the truly musical and amazing inner workings of the Beatle's songs.

PHENOMENAL LESSON! I looked up the chords and not a single source shows that Fmaj7, and they all show G7 instead of 4 finger G; you nailed! This is the only place with an authentic use of the chords as in the recording; Thanks Mike; going to get working on learning this one today!

Michael you are amazing by showing us how intricate and open Beatle music was struckyard...I salute you
@robrussell53292 жыл бұрын
This song has the best singular "note" I've ever heard in music. It's in that C7 chord, the one finger picked by George, at the tail where he hammers on with his pinky (at 17:56 in this video.) A single note, but as a door opening up and pulling the listener into the bridge vocals. For me, it's an inspired and magical moment in songwriting. But for the Beatles, perhaps just another day at work, for the 2nd time around, it's almost hidden. Credit to George, I guess, but Paul was well known for telling the others how to play his songs. There must be a hundred other songs using these same chords. But leave it to Paul once again for layering a perfect melody over them.

Great to learning more about how John used what I call ”leaknotes” to glue the rythm together. To make i more ”rockish”. Thanks a lot. Best Regards from Sweden 🌹🇸🇪🌹🇸🇪🌹🇸🇪

Urban Ekelund - "leaknotes." I LOVE that. GREAT way to describe them!!
@strikerorwell92322 жыл бұрын
+Urban Ekelund The Beatles did their first tour in Sweden and we were blessed with 2 tours. For some strange reason, they did a concert in Karlskoga, the sleepy small town in Western Sweden. (I assume you're Swedish as well) The audience was nowhere to be seen? That's one concert I would have loved to see, with no screaming girls so you could hear them perform.
@davidbarbour2368 Жыл бұрын
Such a gem. I have always struggled to hear all its facets. You pull it apart and put it back together, so that I understand it for the first time. I see how each one of them made an essential contribution, hearing the harmonization slightly differently, so that when was all assembled, it was a kaleidoscope. Paul had the original idea. John made it cool. George made it sublime.

I dont know how you do it Mike but you are a wealth of Beatles information which adds to everything else you present to us. As always, an outstanding and accurate analysis !! Thanks ! I'd like to add my recent epiphany..while introducing the Beatle discography to my 7 yr old grand-daughter (and guitar pupil), I noticed that in the recording mix of so many Beatle tunes, (unlike many other recordings of the era), 2 guitar tracks were given near equal weight in the mix instead of a lead guitar = up and rhythm = down, thus allowing the beautiful counterparts that you often describe.
