Actually that's not true in this particular case. Iron Butterfly release their song "In A Gadda Da Vida" on June 14, 1968. The Beatles "I Want You" was released more than 1 year and 3 months later, and you can't tell me that the musical concept of "I Want You" was not, shall we say "inspired", by "In A Gadda Da Vida", not to mention the drum solo in the Beatles song "The End". Not every musical idea that The Beatles supposedly came up with simply fell out of the sky.

Brutal quality test: Take any band/artist and discard their 40 best and most well known songs. Then look at their _next_ 40 best songs. Beatles are the only band that really deliver strongly with that second 40 set. That’s where you have gems like Baby You’re A Rich Man, Any Time At All, Martha My Dear, Cry Baby Cry, Glass Onion, I Call Your Name., She’s Leaving Home, You Won’t See Me and on and on. Even the _third_ batch of 40 songs is much better than many artists muster in their lifetime. Elton is an exception. Bowie. Eagles. Billy Joel. Queen. Zep. Those and a few others are high quality acts up there almost with the B. All done in 7 years.

You can pick virtually any song from the Abbey Road album and find a bona fide classic. Mind you the same is true for virtually every Beatles album. Particularly their last 6 or 7 albums. 5 or 6 of which are leading candidates for the title of greatest album of all-time! Other tracks, from this album, which you should definitely listen to, include, 'Come Together', 'Something' and 'Because'. You've already heard 'Here Comes the Sun'. The critical reviews for Abbey Road are insane! They're all '5/5', '10/10', '100/100', 5 stars out of 5 stars! Even the 'metacritic' score, which collates the average of ALL reviews, up to today, rates it at 99/100! On it's 50th anniversary re-issue, in 2019, it topped the UK, US and many other charts once again. :)

I agree wholeheartedly with Helter Skelter as a Beatles tune to try once you've heard this one. This one can be thought of as heavy metal (not lyrically though), and Helter Skelter as hard rock. Also proof that Paul can rock as hard as John when he wanted to.

Thanks for the reaction:). The Beatles did it ALL! There is no typical Beatles song....except for 'fire'. From the gentle and beautiful 'Norwegian Wood' to the psychedelic 'Tomorrow Never Knows', the characters they wrote about, the tragic 'Eleanor Rigby', and, from the medley on side 2 of Abbey Road 'Polythene Pam', 'Mean Mr. Mustard', the 'Sun King'....they were limitless. I love seeing people discover them for the first time. They surprised us with every album release.

And think, when flipping the Abbey Road album over after that unexpected end to "I Want You", you've got that beautiful "Here Comes The Sun" by George Harrison. Some advice on Abbey Road side 2. It's probably the first time a band did a "concept" slew of songs where one song will blend into the next one. Most of Side 2 is just that. I saw you've done Here Comes The Sun, and it has an ending. The next song is Because, and after begins the concept songs starting with the 3rd one, "You Never Give Me Your Money". If it's possible, please start there and do the rest of Side 2 altogether. When you hear it all you'll understand! Side 2 of Abbey Road was kinda famous for that back in the day, so much that now and then a DJ would play all of Side 2 without commercial breaks!

@@GrouchyMarx From what I heard, the Beatles at one point had all but abandoned the project that was Abbey Road. It was then that some of the producers or people working in the background happened to find the tapes that contained fragments of songs. They thought it a shame to let them go to waste. So, they included what the Beatles all but discarded, some of which they found on the ground. These were takes like Her Majesty. Since they had only fragments of several songs, they managed to compile them altogether and use them as one continuous song. That is why John later said in an interview the whole album's rubbish.

@@GodismyJudge47 Here's a couple of videos on it. The first is one about side 2, and the second one is John discussing it in a 1969 interview. Keep in mind when John calls the song bits "junk", I get the impression he's not calling it garbage but the kind of junk one keeps around thinking they'll use it eventually, rather than trash one throws away on the spot. Amazing John might think it was a trash album, but artist are often their own worse critics. But there's one thing though we on the outside never get. And that is watching the sausage being made! LOL! They were on the brink of splitting too and the tension in the studio was likely at it max. Perhaps from his perspective at the time it was rubbish, but later he might have grown to appreciate it, especially after its positive reception by the fans. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3ymhmuLrp6Uack kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4ndlXaHorNgnqc

A Day In The Life is like side 2 of Abbey Road. You have to start listening a bite earlier, on the track called Good Morning Good Morning. The reason for this is that at the end of this track you have that insane animal stampede that leads into a reprise of Sgt Pepper. The whole of the album was presented as a show: We hope you will enjoy the show. Now let me introduce to you... On the reprise you've enjoyed the show and... here comes the encore!!! This is from the Beatles last album, Abbey Road, recorded in 1969. You should go right back to the beginning and listen to their first single "Love me do" recorded in 1962, to see where Rock'n'roll was at and how quickly it changed and evolved through the sixties, with the Beatles leading the way. "Love me, do" is where they started. "I want you(She's so heavy)" is where they finished.

Or While My Guitar Gently weeps * which is a George Harrison song, or ( I am the Walrus ) from the Magical Mystery Tour album. or if you want to stick with the Abbey Road album check out the ( medley ) which is a few short songs put together into one. they are considered by many including me to be the best band of all time.
