Great cover. Paul adds so much to this song. I think of John Entwhistle on Who songs, John Paul Jones giving a “base/bass” to Jimmy Page or Phil Lesh’s work with the Grateful Dead.

I'm not a guitarist, but I listened enough to the previous isolated bass version of this song on YT, which included some very slight bleed to give you a sense of where you were in the song.....and man, you nailed it note for note, even the part I refer to as McCartney "answering 2 or 3 sliding neck notes with the same notes".

Love your work! It really helps me learn the bass lines myself and always sounds incredible. It sounds a little like the bass track is shifted early ever so slightly on this one, making the bass feel rushed, I don't know if that's intentional

I think so as well, but he's so accurate in these recreation videos, that maybe the bass line it is a little ahead because Paul recorded it this way in the original 😅.... I don't really know, hope Mattiboo answers the question 😁

@@CheloWiiU No man, Mattiboo is good but this is genuine human error. I've heard the original song a million times since I was a kid, Paul was definitely playing in time. It's just a simple error of the timelines in the editor not being synced correctly. I wish he fixed it.

The strings still have a metal core, but they are wrapped with nylon to give a double bass-like sound!

Hello. Your amazing. How yout get that bass tone, seems a bit saturated ? How you palm mute your higher strings when playing with a pick, i find that a bit difficult ?

I added a bit of distortion to the final recording via a tape saturation plugin! Paul played through an amp that might have added in some extra harmonics in this way. The Hofner is a easier to palm mute the higher strings on given the string spacing is much narrower than a typical bass.

From what I've heard, he used the Hofner only on I Want You. The rest is on the Rickenbacker and the Jazzman

a lot have to do with the strings which are known for have that deep full sound, Paul used the rotosound nylon tapewound bass strings but any nylon tapewound strings will work
