Hi Nick, Actually that’s a great way of putting it! With such a vast array of variations sometimes the hearing must adapt to the different types too, depending on how they are mastered. You can definitely detect slight differences here and there , especially with newer sets like the mono 2014 vinyl box. Every so often , your ears pick out little nuances which you may not have heard or maybe you have but not as clear. These days I’m definitely more house bound with the channel unless I have to go to work! Lol Stay well!

Love it, BD., we do!! And What a surprise, a Great answer to my question, indeed. Remember the date well. Our great Disc Exchange held a 'special day&sale' for the release- even complete with a newspaper ad. If one bought the individual stereo discs; they could have been acquired for 9.99$, so I did- several. Just couldn't swing buying either box that day, sadly. However, this fan found a super, lightly used mono.box set a few wks.later ! Have loved it ever since. Believe all the 09.09.09 reissues wonderful- Great 🎥 film, lad!

Back in 2009 I purchased The Beatles Box Set Remastered in Stereo collection which was wonderful. I read some rave reviews for The Beatles in Mono which I bought about a month after the stereo collection. With the mono set the attention to detail is amazing. Both the packaging and sound are authentic and excellent quality. No mono fold-downs here. For instance, on "Paperback Writer" you hear some phasing/phallanging effects you don't hear on the stereo counterpart. One can hear many differences on each of the 12 albums.

Hi Dennis, I first heard all the U.K. stereo albums in the early 80’s. I brought the mono vinyl editions in around 1982, then it was a completely different listening experience all over again ! I love all the differences between both mono and stereo recordings ! Thanks for watching!

10:20 - If I remember correctly, the original Emitex sleeves also had plastic inside them. I think Apple really ought to consider re-releasing the LP version of the box set. I know "flippers" are going to scream, but that's just their hard luck. I feel worse for those who missed out on getting one when it was on the open market and have to go through flippers gouging them worse than a gas pump.

Hi Farrell , Absolutely correct ! All PPM first pressings came in the plastic version EMITEX. Some with the Beatles LPS too, EMI used up everything, never wasted nothing. Yes that would definitely bring the prices down on the second hand market and would also make sense , weather they do it or not is a different ball game. They actually need to do a proper analog stereo box set and can’t believe they didn’t do it properly in the first place. Stay well and thanks for watching!

Hi Andrew, Yes Indeed had the ROCK-BAND box set delivered the same day as the mono and stereo cd box sets. We absolutely loved playing ROCK-BAND with my wife and kids. What was also great is that you could link up on line and play other people around the world. Sadly the drums got broken and the online servers finished also. However I did purchase an extra box when prices were slashed and I have the extra guitars too. The mixes were specifically designed for this game and if your clever , these mixes can be found on the web or as CDs, I do have a set myself. Actually yes that’s definitely a possible video feature ! Thanks for your great idea!

Well, this is a lovey Beatles Mono box set!! I did get the CD set and the Vinyl as well. and got the CD the same day as you did lol just fun to get it on the day!!! Shops like Target had deals on which you could get a 5 dollar gift card when you bought a Beatles album...so that's how I got half the stereo CDS. Just kept applying them. Later on I got a proper stereo box. Just wish the mono's could be reissued.

I'm impressed with the printing on the outer jackets and miniature posters, absolutely beautiful and sharp which got me wondering what process they used to acquire the quality of the product. Cheers

The label designs were patterned after that of how the labels on the original pressings were designed. The Please Please Me label design was just about on its way out when the album was released, then Parlophone switched to the design we all know and love. An original Please Please Me LP, especially in MONO, is very highly valued.

Hi G, Just to add that these CDs and packaging were made of the highest standard in Japan. Their miniature CDs are impeccable and exact replica’s. Also just to add the Gold label PPM was the first and last to be issued on that label in the U.K. BEATLES wise and the Stereo Gold is probably the holy grail to collectors. I have the mono gold which is on my PPM video. Stay well!

Hi David, Yes I still find this a strange decision. They should have obviously included on the stereo box Set. My only answer is because the stereo discs had the enhanced video documentary individually on each one (as well as a separate disc included) that there wasn’t enough room for the Help & RS original stereo mixes to be included. Seems logical! So rather than not include , they added them to the mono discs. Stay well and thanks for watching!

@@beatledavesbeatleschannel The release of The Beatles Collection (boxed set) in 1978 was a thoughtful one. On the European side, the 12 original albums were included, as well as one extra album, called simply Rarities. This was a compilation of cuts and tracks not found on UK albums, and was indeed a rarity for the UK Beatle fan. However, most UK fans were already in possession of the other 12 albums, and frustrated shop owners were culling the coveted Rarities album from the rest of the set in order to satisfy the wants of their demanding customers. This was almost surely in response to EMI's statement to the intent that the Rarities album would not be available in the future as a stand-alone record. Capitol concurred with EMI in this intention, and released their own 13-volume boxed set in America. This set was identical to the UK set, with the exception of 2 tracks: the German versions of "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You" were supplied on the UK release, while in America, the English versions were substituted. However rare the tracks were for the European fan (6 "B" sides previously available on singles only, plus the previously unreleased German versions made for 8 rarities indeed), in America this was not the case. There were only 2 songs on the album not found on earlier American releases, and "Across The Universe" was the only completely new track. In 1979, Capitol reversed itself (apparently due to the rather unrareness of The Beatles Rarities offerings), and announced its intention to release a package of true American rarities on its budget line in November of that year. SN 12009 hit the presses in October ... but a conundrum arose. Someone at Capitol had already begun work on a rare package, given it a catalog number (SPRO 9462), a title *(Collectors Items)*, pressed it and released it with the following offerings: "Love Me Do" (the original version, with Ringo on drums), "All My Loving" (with hi hat intro), "This Boy" (in true stereo this time), "Sie Liebt Dich", "She's A Woman" (another stereo first), and "I'm Down" (which was thought previously unavailable in stereo). Side 2 included the promotional version of "Penny Lane" and a stereo version of "Baby, You're A Rich Man", and "Across The Universe" (only released once in America on the previous Rarities album). When it came out that "I'm Down" had indeed been released in stereo (on the Rock'N'Roll Music double album), a different stereo mix of "Paperback Writer" was substituted, and the catalog number was changed to SPRO 9463. Still later, plans changed once again, and The Collectors Items LP was scrapped altogether, all copies ordered destroyed. Rarities was scheduled for release in November ... but Capitol revised its plans once again, releasing a revamped Rarities album on March 24, 1980, which included many of the track offerings on the Collectors Items LP. Yet again, another bootlegged version of Capitol's rare album hit the market. Casualties (SPRO 9469 - Capitol's promotional series), like the bootlegged versions of Collectors Items, carried an authentic Capitol sleeve, logo, credits and all, with an interesting "for promotional use only - not for sale" legend across the cover. Most of the recordings on this album were simply different mono or stereo mixes of tracks already available in the USA. Who knows for sure where all these "rare" albums came from? For the avid Beatle nut, it surely didn't matter ... rare is rare, and therefore desirable. What follows is the "official" Capitol offerings of the Rarities album.

Ps think I just purchased a bargain on Amazon bought George Harrison ATMP 5 disc vinyl for less than £70

I was accidentally burned by a counterfeit box which the seller didn't even KNOW was a fake. It was in shrink wrap. I got my refund inside a week and all was well.

To the question about how much for a Beatles or For Other recordings. I do not spend more than $40 (sorry US money) for a record. I learned spending more would be a total rip off. I Am only interested in covers and not getting ripped off. Regarding the "Beatles Oldies" on your next video. The best version, in my collection is the Japanese, while the worst is the Blue Label German issue. I love the Japanese EAS-30000 series, as they are Beautiful vinyl. I like to record the songs in order when the song was recorded and mixed. One thing that should help others who wish to do the same is that the original stereo issue of "I'm Down" is on the Japanese issue of Help! (Odeon AP-4110), but be careful as the 1982 Odeon EAS-30006 maybe the 1976 mix, and I don't think it might be good to consider the Apple release. "She's A Woman" in stereo was first released in Australia on "The Beatles Greatest Hits" in 1966. Goodbye for now.

@@beatledavesbeatleschannel Thanks for replying, the German blue label version I have is a sonic mess. I started in 1975, but I have copies of every tape the Beatles recorded. I put them together by recording date. I think the 1962 audition tape is in the hands of a Japanese collector. There was an auction for that tape years ago. The Decca tape is in two track with the vocals on one channel and the instruments on the other. Remember, Mike Smith, who auditioned the "Rolling Stones", in 1963, had also turned them down. George Harrison came to bat for the Stones. Remember, what Mike Smith said "Guitar groups are on the way out."

Hello sir It seems as if you read my brain I say this because I was thinking about asking you to make a video showing this box set And I am so thankful that you finally made it I have a copy of this box set and for some reason I thought that it was fake and I wanted to return it to the seller that I bought it from However my dad said it did not look fake at all so I decided to keep it and now that you made the video I know that my box set is real There is only one thing that I am ashamed of end it is the fact that I threw away the little bags in witch the CDs came in The reason I did this is because those bags were what caused me to think that my box set was not real because I remember a time when my parents took me to Mexico for a vacation and there were many people selling fake CDs I don’t like to buy those kind of stuff but my brother did buy a few for himself and out of curiosity I asked him to let me touch the packaging of those CDs end it seem to me that they were put in bags similar to those in this Beatles in Mono box Now that you made this video I can see why they were put in bags like this and now that the harm was done I’ve Learned that next time I should ask somebody before throwing something away Other than that I love the sound of these Masters except for the White album which does not sound terrible but I just prefer it in stereo Anyways God bless you and I will hear you on the next video Oh before I forget I forgot to say that I just got this box set in December I did not get it in 2009 because at that time they had recently closed all of the record stores that I had nearby and my family were not yet familiar with buying things online but I am glad that I have it now because it is awesome

The reason I am asking you is because for an item like this I would have to ask my brother to help me order them and if I don’t give him a specific name he seems to get very stressed out and honestly I don’t wanna try ordering items like these by myself because I am afraid that I might accidentally order a different type of bag I really hope that you are able to answer my question and I am pretty sure that my brother will find them because he has been able to find all types of items on Amazon but if he doesn’t know the name of it he won’t even bother looking for it🤣

I was lucky enough to get an official Beatles in mono cd box set about a year or so ago...I thought that it was going to be the cheaply made Chinese counterfeit but it wasn't because I had bought it off Ebay..tge only thing that it didn't come with was the resealable plastic cd sleeves which I had already..

Hi Sarah, Hope your well! The reason is that Abbey Rd and Let It Be were never released in a dedicated mono mix in the U.K. except on reel to reel which was a fold down from the stereo version. Hope that solves the puzzlement for you! Have a great week. Stay well

Dave the quarry men cd was out in 1998 According to information I got, Michael had a handful of these manufactured because he wanted to. You can tell they came from a reel to reel. I hope the salesman was telling me the truth.

I'm one of those who ended up with a fake box set and I have to say the spelling mistakes are atrocious;song titles and band members names.Incidently,do you own the Japanese cd set as well?I bet you do.

Hi Dave , (Im finally catching up with you vids), Love this box so much, really like how they replicated the LPs in miniature form. As you know by now, I always have a story - had an absolute mare getting this box. Couldn't afford both sets on 9.9.09 so I went for the stereo box. When I went back for the mono a year or so later , I won an auction on eBay but then the seller decided not sell it to me (obviously got a better offer on the side). So went back in again, again eBay, paid my money, the thing never turned up, so had to get eBay involved and eventually got my refund. 3rd time, it arrive and spotted straight away that it was a fake so again had to get my money back. in the I gave up with eBay and paid a fortune for it on Amazon but at least it arrived and was real 😂. Liked it so much, I bought the Mono LP box when that came out in 2014. Still awake? Cheers Dave

Bloody hell mate, you don’t do things by halves ! It’s a brilliant little set but when compared to the vinyl version , it doesn’t sound as good to me. Those analog cut mono vinyl editions are so good, it’s no wonder why it’s fetching large sums these days! I can’t see them ever Re-Releasing it ever , can you ? Would like a proper analog stereo box set thou , shame they didn’t get that one right first time! Thanks for watching matey!

@@beatledavesbeatleschannel It was a bit of a saga wasn't it lol. Agree the records sound much better to me, but you know, with all this kind of thing it always depends on what you're playing them on. What I mean is if you have a high end CD player with a great dac inside but a cheapish turntable, then the CDs probably sound better - Im not sure - but to me the Lps are superb. With Apple you can be completely sure what they will re-release but I think you're probably right, that mono is done now and there doesn't seem a reason for re-release. I would also really like a proper Analogue stereo LP release and without the panning etc. I don't really understand the technicalities that are required for this but this is what we are missing. And there is such a strong case for it, because as great as the monos are, they were made for mono equipment not the sophisticated stuff we have now and although todays hi-fi deals with them very well indeed, I have always felt that a good analogue stereo mix could top that sound on todays equipment. I was interested to ask what that multi CD player is that you have in the intro of your videos?

@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel To be perfectly honest , if you’ve got a below par cd/turntable but a fantastic set of power speakers , it’s gonna sound good. The other way round is probably more disastrous with a good system and lousy speakers. My point being, if you’ve got a great set of speakers that reproduce well, then most systems will do the job. I’ve got a super set of power speakers which I used to use for Recording / Mixing , they sound really crisp and very pleasing. Of course the other aspect is location of where your set up is , but that’s another story completely! That mutual changer cd unit is a Philips CDR recorder CDR 820! Stay well!

@@beatledavesbeatleschannel Well to be fair, if you've got a great system and lousy speakers there's no point having the great system. Its all got to start from the amp , then components then speakers. Its the rubbish in/rubbish out chain. But generally all 3 should be at the same level to get the best out of the system. But my point was if they're not equal, the better component (either Cd or turntable) will sound better through the speakers. Ive just ordered a new turntable, its the final piece in my hifi jigsaw. probably won't arrive for a couple of months but a big upgrade on what I have so really looking forward to getting that. @@beatleytonesbeatleschannel My CD & Turntable are straight into the power speakers , no amp or EQ , some turntables you need to have an amp for but a lot nowadays don’t. Certainly sounds great but there’s no doubt without good speaker reproduction your not going to get the best sound delivered. The amazing thing about some of the power speakers around is that some although quite small, are incredibly powerful. What turntable are you getting ? What speakers do you have at the moment? In most cases you don’t need to spend big , to get a great sound and like i previously said the acoustics of where you have your speakers. Have a great weekend!
