So glad to have grown up at that time! I constantly tell my sons and grandchildren that listening to a new Beatles LP was one of the more surprising and exciting experiences ever.! You never knew what marvel would come out!

I hope there will be another group in the near future like the Beatles. This song is a great example of the pathos they created. By that I mean There is a quality, as of an experience that arouses feelings of pity, sympathy, tenderness, or sorrow. The Beatles are great.

You can forget that ever happening, ever. Have you listened to the crap that passes for music today? And it only keeps getting worse. I pity kids today and in future generations who will never experience anything approaching what I did during that time. The 60s produced the best and most inventive rock music ever. And the Beatles started it all.

@@vladmirhoopnagle1170 Sadly you’re probably right about that. Personally I think the rap genre had a mediocre effect on the music industry. Along with the music companies iron control over the musicians.

@@user-vt1ix6tn8f Just like there's rap that's bad, there's rock, pop and other genres of music that's bad too, just because you don't like rap doesn't mean rap is bad, in the same way that someone might say the Beatles are bad, just because they didn't like their music....Rap is good, touch some grass

This clears up a mystery - on pg. 47 of Lewisohn's _The Beatles: Recording Sessions_ book, there's a photo of them here at the BBC studio, mistakenly captioned as being in EMI Studio Two. For anyone who's actually been there, it's clear the photo was not from Studio Two. Now I know it's a BBC studio instead. In fact, it's Portland Place, at Langham Street in London (Broadcasting House).

Revival and “ Alternative “ music made great Strides from the mid-70s on- THE Jam were phenomenal... Thank God... Music stagnated for many years of boredom... The Flamin Groovies were fantastic!...The Paisley Underground and the bands that spearheaded that movement were great...The Plimsouls, The Rain Parade the Dream Syndicate... were phenomenal...The Australian bands ... The Church, The Hoodoo Gurus... The Stems... were fantastic bands ... all overlooked from a commercial standpoint...they still knock the shit out of anything then and that came after...

Isn't this from one of the various BBC Radio shows the Beatles played on rather than Top of the Pops which was a TV show ?

According to the text at the beginning of the video, the title 'Top of the Pops' was also used for a radio programme on the Overseas Service.

Don't get me wrong, the Beatles were brilliant, but they were also a testament to what could be done with unlimited studio time and great engineers and production people
@richierichardo209
@richierichardo209 2 жыл бұрын
I dont know what "unlimited studio time" means, but, when they were recording this to be played for a RADIO SHOW (they could've just played the record) they played it LIVE (playing their instruments and singing simultaneously) Thats a "mic drop" indication of their talent right there. But take 1964 (when this radio recording was done) In 1964, 1965 & 1966, The Beatles released two movies that they acted in, toured the World....TWICE, and wrote and recorded A Hard Days Night, Beatles For Sale, Help!, Rubber Soul, and Revolver. Oh yeah, and they worked in the studio too when they could or had to. Also played on television shows from the countries they were touring in (youtube has many of them) Sheesh! Give them lots of credit will ya?
@hiataki7

They were given unlimited studio time due to their demonstrated melodic genius. Throwing 4 random guys into a recording studio for hours on end isn't going to produced brilliant work.

You've won the award for stupidest KZbin comment. This recording was done live for radio - not with 'unlimited studio time ', and recorded by whichever engineer the BBC happened to have employed that day.
