Thanks Andrew. I've been able to see the show 4 times. 3 times before they revamped some of the visuals. I think Cirque shouldn't have changed bits of the show, but I guess they were trying to keep interest in the show. Best seat selection is further away from the stage. Ticket prices are more for seats closer to the stage, but you miss out on some magical sequences in the show.

I had some seats at mid-level when I saw Love, and they were great. There are a lot of effects coming from lighting in the audience you miss when you are down low (also, the performers are doing a lot of things simultaneously - like a 3-ring circus - that you could miss down low). There was a spoken word section that showed The Beatles as shadow figures that was projected up high you could miss in the front. I didn't care for that section much, since the dialog echoed off the theater walls and was all but unintelligible to me.

JMO but I feel the changes are due to key performers leaving the show and Cirque unable to replace them with someone with the same skill set. As well as keeping the show fresh as you mentioned. Cheers

I agree with you about the changes to the show. Like you, I saw it 'before' and 'after'. Was it because I was seeing 'Love' for the second time that it didn't have the same impact as before? No, I think it was because something had changed. 'Before' was better.

I'm one of those "Gen-Z" fans who was really introduced to The Beatles through this album, playing it a ton on CD. I also got the chance to see it live back in 2013, and it really is an incredible experience. Without spoiling anything, there are sections you didn't hear on the album, and some otherwise atmospheric moments on it now make more sense if you've seen the show (such as the build-up to Mr. Kite)

LOVE contains the only true stereo mix of I AM THE WALRUS in its complete form. The original stereo mix is fake-stereo (albeit creative) for its last third, because they had mixed in a live radio broadcast during the mixing of the mono master. They couldn’t recreate that at the time for the stereo mix, so they chose to re-channel the mono mix for that part. When they did LOVE, they finally managed to find a recording of that BBC broadcast that was used on the original mono mix, so now we finally have the entire song in true stereo. (The LOVE mix hints at the fake-stereo part in the old mix by having the string start out in one channel only, then slowly bloom out into true stereo! Something never heard before at the time, and I’m sure many fans were very excited, at least those who got the joke.)

Just saw Love for I think the ninth time two days ago! Some advice for those who haven't gone yet: - Get the CHEAPER tickets. You'll sit high up (even the highest seats aren't really THAT high though), but you will get to see EVERYTHING. It's a theater-in-the-round, so there's stuff going on all over the place. You won't cramp your neck from looking up! Also, during the "Tomorrow Never Knows / Within You, Without You" scene, there's a giant sheet that gets pulled across the room, and if you're sitting in the first several rows, you will be covered with that sheet and you won't see what's going on above it. - Arrive EARLY. Before the show starts, they play backing tracks to a lot of Beatles songs. It's quite a treat -- ESPECIALLY "I'm Only Sleeping." - Even if you already saw it and don't want to go back because you already saw it...it's been different *every time* I've seen it. Some differences are subtle, some are major. The overall story and timeline is still intact though. They did a complete revamp about five years ago and somehow made the thing much more colorful, which I didn't think was possible! - Be prepared to be emotionally overcome when the show starts and you first hear The Beatles' voices. - Oh...also among the changes..."I Am The Walrus" has since been replaced by "Twist and Shout." Anybody who saw the show with IATW might wonder why the change -- it actually makes perfect sense because the scene was replaced by the arrival of rock'n'roll. And "Strawberry Fields Forever," instead of being the demo -> version 1 -> version 2 -> version 3 progression, is now much closer to the standard version (just versions 2 and 3), but still with all the chaos that ends the song --- "Piggies," "Hello, Goodbye," etc. I'm wondering if they're thinking of gradually making enough changes to the music to put out a new soundtrack album (Love 2.0 or something?)

Count me as one of the folks who enjoys Love. I think the thing that impresses me the most with it is how well it flows together, to the point that it actually feels like the songs are supposed to go in that order. Somehow George and Giles Martin managed to make a track listing with classic Beatles songs feel like something entirely new and original.

The Mr. Kite/She's So Heavy track is next-level badassery. I could kiss Giles's and George's brains (and ears) for making this album. Genius exponentialed. The documentary of the making of the stage show is one of my kids' fave videos to watch when we get together over the summers/holidays. Creativity and brilliance are both fine, but creative/brilliant people who can speak intelligently about their process and people who retain their enthusiasm even when being 'technical' are the ultimate pleasure, and the LOVE stage project was headed by people with such talent and intelligence in every facet of production. The Beatles' music seems to be a bottomless wealth of inspiration to many such people. Thank goodness. :)

I remember hearing about this album and thinking oh no, what a terrible idea... until a Beatles fan friend played it to me. Then I was won over by it. I agree about tracks like Help! sounding their very best hear. I also wholeheartedly agree that George Martin's input helps the result immensely. Giles hasn't really hit the same heights since unfortunately.

Hi Andrew, I have to say that I LOVE this video. I just got back from my trip from Las Vegas, where I was able to see the last ever performance of the Love show on July 6. It was absolutely spectacular, and I was able to talk to some employees about the closing of the show. According to them, it was seriously considered to move the show to Liverpool after the Hard Rock demolishes the Mirage Hotel. They said that the cost to rebuild the theater for the show in Liverpool would be around 48 million dollars, and sadly, the idea was scraped. I have a family member who lives in Vegas, and they know someone who works for the Circus de Souli company, and they were ordered to delete all the music for the show. It's sad to see this come to an end, I could see the performers were very emotional towards the end of the show. I will never forget how special it was, and I did my best to document my experience. I hope you got a chance to see the show in person!!!

My story with this album is very special. I've been a beatlemaniac since I was 9 or 10 -I´m 56 now- but for some reasons I stopped hearing Beatles for many years until I heard LOVE. The first time I heard it I was IN TEARS, and since then I hear Beatles almost everyday. Apart from the emotional component I think that is a masterpiece that Sir George could only have done. The ending of "Strawberry Fields Forever" is an example. In, 2016 I saw the show and again I was deeply moved and emotional. Thanks Andrew for this great review.

I like "Love" a lot more than that never ending remaster thing. Because you can listen to "Love" without comparing with an older version. This is something else, and not ment to be a replacement for something, but a work in its own right. I listen to it sometimes, and I think it is entertaining and a fresh approach. To me it is an addition and not destroying anything, such as - at least to me - that constant stream of new remixes of original Beatles-releases do. "Love" is wha it is, and offers a different experience of Beatles-music.

Brilliant narrative Andrew. George Harrison was definitely underrated as an innovator. I would be interested to see a similar mash-up of their solo works possibly based around Band On The Run as the central theme. Much of their post Beatles work does measure up and a sequel to Love is long overdue. It would be nice to see them re-united on disc one more time.

Well done! The important thing here is that you focused on George and Giles. Brilliant job from the both of them. Though I’ve not seen the performance either the music showed how “in the forefront” the Beatles music still was in the era of Mashups. I didn’t think anything would work as well as it did…together! Love was smart, beautifully constructed and audibly sonic for the brain! I’ve listened to it several times over the years. I have collected mashups for some time now and this fits in beautifully when I’m ready to to knock some cobwebs loose from this old cranial tuning station… Thanks! Well done!!!

I for some reason get very emotional listening to this album. Right from the start with the wonderful vocals of Because without music and the bird sounds takes me to an old day church cemetery. It took me to a place where the Beatles had died and were seeing and hearing there lives in music flash before there eyes. After each song it ether morphs into another song or goes to a dreamy background sound almost as if with each memory makes you forget your on this strange journey and brings you back to reality. One part that always gets me is when the music to Ringo's Goodnight starts up and then after a beautiful run of a hand across a harp Ringo starts reciting the words to Yellow submarine as if he was just standing there speaking the words reflecting his memories of the Beatles and then it go's strait into the full song just beautiful. LOVE IT.

I love this album! I thought it was wonderful way of re imagining the material and presenting it in a different way. It works even if you haven't seen the 'Love' show which I haven't. Some fans think Beatles material is sacrosanct and should never be interferred with but all of the original albums are still available so you can just listen to those if that is what you prefer . It would be a different matter if they were all deleted and you could only get the new mixes but of course that will never happen, I'm happy to say! Thanks for yet another very informative video, Andrew! Just a small correction, you said the release date of the album was November 2007 when it was actually November 2006 but what's 12 months between Beatles fans!

I was very happy with the music, though a little surprised at the time that there was no video content in the DVD. Thanks for another great video, Andrew. I have been lucky enough to see the LOVE show in Las Vegas three times. Obviously, I like it. Even though it's been 3 years since I saw it last my opinion of it has not changed. I have seen a lot of live performances of all sorts in my lifetime, and I have to say that LOVE is the best live performance of any sort I have ever seen. Not only is the music fabulous but the Cirque du Soleil company made an absolutely remarkable, moving and profoundly beautiful production. The first time I saw it I realized near the end I had never stopped smiling. As a Beatles fan, Andrew, you owe it to yourself to experience LOVE. I also love the soundtrack and listen to it quite frequently. I wish they would release the rest of the songs that they produced for LOVE. As a first gen fan -- I received the VeeJay Songs Pictures and Stories for my 8th birthday in 1964 -- I consider myself a Beatles purist. However, that the Beatles and their families approved of the release is good enough for me. After all, the Beatles were all about new sounds and new ways of creating music. LOVE is just another step in their story.

At first I was not super interested in it (beyond the new “while my guitar…” version) but I ended up buying it in the lobby just after the show. I do happily listen to it often. Thanks again!

"Love" is an excellent collection-- it takes all the songs we know so well, pulls them apart, and reassembles them in a totally new way. This was the first Audio-only DVD I bought after I installed a 5.1 system and it sounds wonderful. I still listen to the entire collection end-to-end a couple times a year. The show is amazing as well: Andrew, if you make to the States to see it., I'll buy you a beer afterwards. :)

Thanks, Andrew - I've been fortunate enough to see the Vegas show 3 times, and it really reinvigorated and reinforced my love for The Beatles. More importantly, it got my kids hooked on them too! Watching the show, you get to feel some of the EXCITEMENT the Beatles generated which you don't always get from listening to some of the slightly sterile sounding studio albums. I would go so far as to say I actually prefer the Love versions of 'Lucy' and 'Gently Weeps', even though I am normally a stickler for authenticity and originality. As Andrew correctly says, only by seeing the show can you fully appreciate how the songs work in the context of the show, although listening to the album is a pretty good vicarious alternative.

I have the 5.1 disc and I saw the Vegas show! That show is not to be missed by any true Beatles fan! It's so amazing, I had to hold my bladder for the second part of the show because I didn't want to miss one second! Can't just pause a live show.and I knew it was now or never! The live show makes it seem the Beatles are actually there with you, all of them! Not going to reveal how they pull that off. Just see it!

This album introduced me fully to the Beatles - until then I'd only heard the classic songs on 60s documentaries and I liked them, but it was kind of ubiquitous at that point in the sense that everyone knew who they were. But I saw the video for Tomorrow Never Knows/Within You Without You and it blew my mind. I'd never heard anything like that before, I even forgot momentarily they were a British band, because it sounded so alien and unique. I moved on to I Am The Walrus straight after and that began my critical appreciation and love affair for them as a band. A stellar introduction and overlooked album 🎶

I don’t enjoy gambling, so Las Vegas never appealed to me that much. However, a work meeting there many years ago gave me the opportunity to go see it and the entire show (with that first burst of action of the opening in particular) was stunning. So much so, that years later I specifically returned to Las Vegas just to see it again. You can tell that the theater was purpose-built for the show, and the sound is shockingly good for a big space. You, and everyone else who hasn’t seen it yet, will absolutely love it. Las Vegas is doing a great job of catering to non gamblers. It really is a one-of-a-kind city. I’m a 5.1 guy (although I love great mono and stereo mixes too of course) and “Love” is among the best and most exciting surround mixes I own. If you have a surround setup, treat yourself to the 5.1 mix of “Love”. It is extraordinary.

Having grown up with the Beatles & a total purist, I was skeptical when LOVE was released. But after one listen, and countless more since, I have nothing but LOVE for this masterpiece. It's an amazing soundtrack for an amazing show, that I hope to see one day. My biggest disappointment is that George never got see his vision become as successful as it did.

I always enjoy listening to LOVE; it’s just another way to experience their incredible and influential music and talents. The album is a nice addition to their other post studio album releases. I like how it begins with a song most people who are not true Beatle fans wouldn’t even know existed: Because. The arrangements put to the original songs on the album are really quite brilliant.

Brilliant video Andrew. I love the album and the mash up of Strawberry Fields when they bring in piggies at the end is pure genius. When you see the show the album makes more sense. I have been fortunate to see the show twice, and will see it again in a couple of weeks. It is breathtaking. I found it brought a tear to my eye both times. Hope you get the chance to see it. I play this album regularly especially strawberry fields

Another interesting video Andrew with great detail regarding the Love album. As for me, I received the cd for Christmas in 2006 but I was too scared to play it in case it was like 'Stars On 45'. I finally listened to it about three months later and was blown away with the sound quality as well as the lovely song segues. I also really liked the snippets of other songs being dropped in and identifying them, some took me ages to work out. I played it a lot more than the Anthology series. Seeing the show in Las Vegas is on my bucket list, might get there one day.

On the one hand, I loved what they did with these mashups. I think my favorite one is the one in which Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds merges with outtake audio from Good Night and then as the Good Night riff is played in the background Ringo is singing the first verse occapella (yeah, everything's gonna be mellow......😄). On the OTHER hand, I do prefer the songs the way they are on the original albums just as they are (including Giles' remixes) , but LOVE can be fun. The point of this was to thank you for mentioning the two bonus tracks that appear on I Tunes. I instantly downloaded them. I had no idea they existed because I bought the original CD the day it was released, so I saw no need to look on I tunes. Anyway, thanks again for pointing those out.

I saw the show around 2007. Going in I wasn't sure what to expect. I had seen some cirque shows prior to this and they all were fantastic. This show was no exception. Even if you somehow never heard of the Beatles you would ❤ the show. My only concern is that the Mirage has been sold and will be replaced with a Hard Rock hotel. Apparently from the ground up. I'm sure the show will find a new home but I haven't heard anything about that. Great video by the way.

Another great video, thanks Andrew 👍🏻 I'm a big fan of this album. I can kind of understand the view that it's gimmicky and a bit of a cash cow. But for me it was a great way of bringing the Beatles' music into the 21st century. I still play it regularly, as it's not far off the tracklisting I'd pick if I was compiling my own Beatles mix tape/CD. The opening chord of 'A Hard Day's Night' into 'Get Back', via 'The End' sequence still gives me goosebumps, just as it did when I first heard it. There's too many other favourite parts of the mix to mention, but suffice to say I think this is probably the best post-2000 Beatles release so far. Keep up the great work Andrew! 😊

1 -"When was the last time you heard this album?" - Just this past weekend while doing some backyard work :) 2 - I love the show in Las Vegas, totally recommended. Just make sure not to get seats too close to the stage as you may be too close to see everything going on 3 - I agree on what you said about this being Giles Martin "audition". I remember listening to LOVE and thinking "God, how I which we had some remixes of the original albums!" Whish granted!!! 4 - "Within you Without you" / "Tomorrow Never knows" is an absolute master piece (followed by "Drive my car"/"What you're doing" but I'm a Macca fanboy so I'm biased :) )

Beatles Love is one of the surround sound discs I put on to show off my system. Vocals up front and center and clear, almost three dimensional. Excellent separation on all channels, violins sound especially vibrant. Paul's bass and Ringo's drums finally have some bottom, it's a great disc all around.

I’m a 44yo Beatles fan who fell into the camp of being a purist. I found LOVE a curious addition, but I never bothered to actually sit down and listen to the album. I did just that this week bc of your video, and I must say, I found it very impressive. The collages work very well with the original spirit of the Beatles which was to always experiment with new ways of doing things.

Knowing the band so well and having heard and played their music obsessively, it makes LOVE so good to listen to. You hear the parts they used and how it's put together and appreciate it on a whole different level. If I had not much knowledge of Beatles music I'd like to think I'd still love LOVE because it sounds mega. What an album! I couldn't care less about the show, it doesn't matter to me that I haven't seen it. I don't need to. I dare say that changes if I ever did, maybe it would increase my enjoyment.

I like the album a lot, especially this version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Yes, you DO need to see the show. I saw it in 2009 and both together create a full package of what "Love" is supposed to be. When you hear Come Together during the show, you will be blown away. The harmonies are in the back of your head because the speakers are surrounding you in your seat. I thought somebody behind me was singing really well..lol. As always, wonderful video.

When I first got this album in 2006 it was a shocking experience as a fairly young but well knowledgeable fan. Through the years it grew into me and it became a very important part of my Beatles collection. I saw the show live in 2022 and it was such a magical experience. I felt confident to tell my friends this was the closest experience to hear the band live that you can ever get. Amazing experience.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have seen this show 3 times, and I can’t wait to go see it again. I can’t fathom just listening to this without the visual information displayed on the show itself. It would be like just listening to the star wars soundtrack, without ever watching the film: The way some performances just build up towards our beloved Beatles music is simply astounding, I couldn’t recommend this show enough. Worth a trip to Vegas all by itself.

I saw the show in 2007 while attending the first Las Vegas Fest for Beatle Fans at the Mirage Hotel. The visuals were awesome, but what I really remember was the sound. It seemed to come from nowhere...from no direction...seemingly originating and existing within my head. I don't know how it was done. I only know I never experienced anything like it...before or since! It was fab!!!
