When they were doing the other two for the Anthology, Jeff Lynne said he walked in as Paul and George were practicing background vocals and was shocked. "It sounds just like THEM!" LOL. He said even after knowing George for years, he'd never heard he and Paul singing alone and was just knocked out. There WAS magic even with two out of four in the room.

@@ineverseeyouanymore I'd wish it was, but that part is actually exactly the totally straining, warbling part which gives away it's all recent vocals though. And every note on this recording sound by the same singer of the same age. None is from the 90’s. Which is in no way knocking him by the way, 50+ in the 90's vs 80+ years old. I’m hoping we get to hear 100 year old vocals, and I would be there for every single second of new music.

@@ineverseeyouanymore My hunch is they only recorded guide vocals or did incomplete vocal takes in the mid-90's, and the difference would've been too jarring. It's a pity McCartney never recorded his vocals when he first started talking about resurrecting this song in mid-00's. Around 2013 was the cut-off point for the distinctive character in his vocals.

This sounds pretty bad. I do think some of the quality issues come from the process of separating the vocals, so you have lots of distortion and digital artifacts. Then there's the fact that the singing is not great, the song is not that good and they "cheated" and pulled in vocals from Because. This didn't need to happen, but you can buy a copy on vinyl, because that's such a high quality medium.
