What I would like is pitch corrected remixes in stereo with base and drums in the middle. 🎸

I liked it when he said he wouldn't be doing this job if he wasn't George Martin's son. Not to take away from his real ability, it's hard to imagine anyone else could do this remix as well, but he exhibited a self-effacing charm that others taking advantage of nepotism often ignore.

With the new audio technology developed by Peter Jackson's company they will re-mix everything again now that they can isolate instruments that had been recorded on one track originally.

Hey Giles: ... Did Paul ever use capos for any of his bass parts? If so which titles please? ... I've always assumed the pics I've seen of him using capos on both bases were him just goofing around, not recording. Now however, I've changed my mind about that assumption, and can suddenly see him deciding it would be a capital idea to incorporate one o' them buggers to help facilitate a performance. ... If true, I'm surprised it's never mentioned by anyone. ... Thanks for your time in reading my question! ... Peace & Love from the great Pacific Northwest!

When I heard Giles' remixes on the 2009 The Beatles Rock Band project, I was knocked out especially with Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road. I purchased the 50th Anniversary remix of Sgt. Pepper. When I heard it, it was LOUD lacking the dynamics of the Rock Band remixes. I returned the 50th Anniversary Sgt. Pepper remix. If you can find the Rock Band CD's, get them. They are for genuine Beatles collectors

Thanks Giles, it was interesting to hear it remixed, but honestly, it lost something that the original mix had. Sure we can hear the instruments and all more clearly, very good there, but that isn't how it was intended to be heard, it's an atmosphere that can't be duplicated by using digital technology. Digital is too literal, in a sense.
@Caifo3 жыл бұрын
I disagree. As Giles says, the original stereo mixes weren’t given so much attention because very few people was going to listen to them and stereo was a quite unexplored novelty, and the 1987 CD mixes were crap. I like what Giles did to Sgt. Pepper, the white album and Abbey Road.
@BenDover-st6gb2 жыл бұрын
You are nostalgic for the old mix, your childhood memories are associated with it. As Giles said, the new mixes are for future generations

Yes, how do you keep getting these Beatle jobs when there are loads of better qualified people available?
@flashtrash7830 Жыл бұрын
Well he addresses that point quite well at 22min 20sec - but ah! did you listen to the interview before commenting? Besides you assume a better sound engineer would do a better job. Maybe, but I think as the son of the producer that means he is more likely to honour the sound made back then through using better technology today to draw it tout, to get as close as one can get on modern listening devices, digital phones /headphones etc. to the studio sound. As a philosopher said, everyone is conservative about the thing they do well. Perfectionists don't use the wrecking ball approach. They want a premium result not a revamp. (revamps can happen too of course, but I think it's not right for a main anniversary edition).
@CrabulousYT11 ай бұрын
@@flashtrash7830 He probably is talking about the new mixes, and I gotta say, yeah its giles and sam okell's fault for sure. As someone who has experience making my own mixes of beatles songs using AI demixing and similar software to giles, giles used some really stupid tactics to try and make the sound better such as on Day Tripper using compressors wayyy to extreme and not changing much for Hey Bulldog and Revolution. There were few mixes that were actually good on the red and blue remixes and I am confused why you scorn the guy so hard for saying something that is pretty correct. I think the remixes of Sgt Pepper were pretty good, Revolver was okay, but the red and blue albums were just plain bad.
